Would he give my crumbled body a ride back after I fell into a chasm?

Do you have gas money?
Posted By: tomtuttle Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/07/10 11:38 PM
I was thinking the same thing as Rick, but it was way funnier when Cam said it.

No. Effing. Way.

I'm already broken, so there's no harm to me if we go over!

Heck, maybe it would jar my spinal cord back into place and I'd walk again.

Now wouldn't that be something. Rick and I falling, then me walking back to the truck to get my wheelchair for you!

I kept thinking he was going to tag the left grip or peg. I think the helmet cam makes it look worse than it really is. I still doubt I'd do that, but I've done dumber things after a couple beers...... Definately wouldn't take my two stroke on that trail.
Posted By: Adrian Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 01:10 AM
I was thinking the same thing re the helmet cam. When he stopped to let his buddy catch up, the steepness of the cliff kind of disappeared. Maybe it was mounted on an angle or something.
Posted By: RickF Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 01:12 AM
That's the same thoughts I had regarding the left grip or peg Mike and my son was telling me that the helmet cams do make the trails look smaller than what it actually is ... but still!
Posted By: Adrian Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 01:17 AM
Better not point that cam at....well....you know....

I almost drove one of those fat tired, little 50HP mini bikes off a cliff once. The throttle wasn't hooked up to the handlebars and my 'buddy' had a lever hooked up right to the carb or something that you had to reach down under the seat for. Can't remember exactly how it worked but I remember reaching and reaching as I approached a fence running 90 degrees to maybe a 15' cliff down to the shore. Normally you went through a 2-3 foot space between the fence and the cliff but at a much slower speed and I couldn't slow down. The giant cranky guy who owned the lawn I would have had traverse in order to avoid this maneuver scared me more than the idea of flying off the bank so I kept going.

In hind sight, it wasn't such a small space to go through at the speed I was doing but as a kid who had little experience on even a properly working bike, it was pretty scary.

The above link is a whole other matter though. I'd probably have the nerve to try it but I have enough logic to know I don't have the skill. At least that's how I like to interpret it, a lack of nerve, oops, I mean lack of skill.

50 HP mini bike? that's a ton of power in a bike that small!
Posted By: RickF Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 09:31 PM
That's a lot of power for a mini bike, my son's Suzuki RMZ450 only puts out 53 and that's more than enough.

Probably a 50cc mini bike Murph?

Speaking of mini bikes, do any of you older guys remember these little jewels from back in the day ... Honda Trail 70
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 09:45 PM
I was denied access to the photo.

Is that the CR-70? I think that was what some of my friends had.. I had an ATC90.

These are what I was thinking of...

Posted By: RickF Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 09:50 PM
Yep it was Mark, although not the same photo as above...

Seems like everybody had these back in the day.
Posted By: Adrian Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 09:52 PM
Haha. I remember one of my neighbours had a blue one. Some of the other kids had Rupps.
Posted By: RickF Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 09:54 PM
Actually it's a CT-70 rather than a CR-70 ... I just noticed that you wrote CR.
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 10:00 PM
Yep.... that sounds right. (I guess it should, since it is, right?) \:\)

I was just looking to see if I had a photo of myself popping a wheelie on my ATC, wearing red and white checkered pants (that just looked pink from a distance). I came across that photo not too long ago, but evidently it wasn't on my hard drive.

I wouldn't live that one down for awhile, but figured I'd post it anyway if I found it...
Posted By: Wid Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/08/10 10:03 PM

I remember those. The last bike I had was a 1986 Honda VT 1100.

It looked just like this one.
Posted By: Murph Re: Let's go dirt bike riding... - 04/09/10 04:07 PM
Correct. I meant 50cc but it came out HP and it did indeed look similar to the pics of the little Honda. I remember even more ridiculously fat tires though.
