What do you use that works well? Goal is to get rid of advertisments like those you would see on audio forums like the AVS forum as an example.
Use Firefox with Adblock Plus.
Adblock Plus also works with Google Chrome.
Another vote for Adblock Plus. Works great with Firefox.
Very good folks. I just installed FF and AB+. Installation of FF was quite painless importing favorites, history etc. I like FF a lot. I am using the default/recommended subscription for AB+. It is getting rid of all those nasty big side ads on audio forums. Is there any way to get rid of the smalls advertisements that appear at the top of the web page like those you see on AVS forum and Audioholics? So far I think this is a big improvement over IE especially with AB+ and spell check.

I will still have to do some tweaking with FF because I do not like the default font. Any others settings I should be aware of on FF or AB+ that you guys like or I should disable?

Thanks again.
Custom little button ads are hard to get rid of because they are specific to the site. But AB+ should remove any global ad networks automatically. You can write custom rules to block what ever you want, but that's not so easy.

The default should have gotten you the EasyList subscription, I like to add to that EasyPrivacy (blocks tracking cookies). See http://easylist.adblockplus.org/ look on the left-hand side, click the #2 link to Add EasyPrivacy.

You probably don't like the serif font, look in the preferences dialog box for the Content section and change the Default Font to sans-serif.
Thanks Clubneon.

The default subscription they recommended was Fanboys(English). I just changed it to EasyList now with the EasyPrivacy...Thanks.

What font and size do you like with FF?

Cheers!
I take it back, to block the little button ads on AVS is easy. Just right click on one of them, and select AdBlock Plus: Block Image... from the bottom of the list. The automatically defined rule is exactly what you want. Just click Add Filter.
I'm using the default 16 point, but I have a big monitor.
Thanks again. Going into the appearance settings in windows and enabling ClearType in the effects menu I find makes the default font much much better.
Oh yeah, that's helps every application. MS forces it on for IE only unless you do that.
Right clicking on the top ads was painless and there all gone. It has really cleaned up those websites. What a great program.
