So, I'm laying in bed, then suddenly my bed starts shaking. I thought it was my Ultramatic bed massage turning on by itself or just my brain playing tricks on me, but nope, it was an earthquake - freaky.

Any other Ontarians experience it?

Sorry Cam, that was me. I had pork 'n beans for lunch.

I didn't even know y'all had earthquakes in Canada. How very un-dude. Hope everybody is okay.
Is Axiom testing an EP1000?

There's a fault line in the Great Lakes somewhere as I understand it.

That's what I was told too.

Wheelz, when did it hit you? For me it started around 1:43pm and lasted about a minute.

Been awhile since I actually felt an earthquake up here. I virtually slept through the big quake in California in 1971, we were living down there at the time. I got up and told my parents that someone was shaking my bed then went back to sleep.
Damn... Good that you are safe

Hope your Axioms are safe and earthquake proof \:\)

Apparently a 5.8 quake nearby, and a similar one in Gatineau a minute or so later... that's the parking lot gossip anyways.

The best part was all the people calling & emailing customers and co-workers in Silicon Valley explaining that they were going to have to miss the meeting because of an earthquake.

We would have sounded more credible if the World Cup wasn't on at the same time.

It happened around 1:50 and lasted about 10 seconds. It may have been longer as I was intently watching soccer. It'll be interesting to see how powerful it was as it takes quite a bit for my bed to resonate as it did. It's VERY heavy and I'm laying on an air mattress.

All is well here, just freaky, that's all.

Here in Japan we have so many that is pretty much normal for us! There is one time that I though I was gonna die, the windows and doors were all shaking so badly and loud that I had to start praying. Taking in consideration I am not religious. Hopefully nothing bad happened!

Interesting, so just the one earthquake then... so it would have probably been stronger at Axiom than here.

If the earthquake was caused by God we should kill it.

I thought you might like that wheelz999. It would be atleast more productive than praying. ;\)
5.5? Now that's cute. ;\)

Yeah, Cesar. I'm glad everyone's ok, but I can only smile at the reactions to those who don't experience earthquakes regularly.

(Note: I lived in California most of my life.)
[BREAKING NEWS]

Prototype Subwoofer shakes Ontario and Quebec.

Axiom's Prototype EP36000P Subwoofer is believed to have caused a 5.5 magnitude earthquake earlier today.
Shortly before the event, a large power drop was detected on the power grid near Dwight, ON causing several homes and businesses to go out of power for a few minutes.
The Prototype device show here below on a clandestinely acquired picture is believed to be powered by a dedicated 90 Terawatt circuit. Its output on a 20hz reference sine-wave is also believed to generate winds of up to 120km/h.
Earlier this week, Axiom employees were seen leaving the test laboratories with serious cases of horizontal hair due.

Deny, deny, deny!

I maintain it was caused by earthshaking response to the new Series 3 announcement.

Yeah. It was a cute little rumble. The highest magnitude quake recorded in this fault zone (western Quebec) was 6.4. These are very old faults, and for the most part not active.

I came across this interesting read concerning said faults.

Underground subwoofer tests. Hmmm.

I thought that "test tower" looked more like a drill rig than an antenna mast.

Hey Cam. I remember that article coming out shortly after the last 'big one' in '92/93.

I dunno, Ian, I suspect they're called Epicenters for a reason...

Interesting stuff. I have only felt one earthquake here in PEI that I remember. I was just a kid and I remember waking up one morning wondering why my old dresser was squeaking it's way across the floor towards my bed. It had those little, old fashioned, squeaky steel wheels so the sound was more ominous than the bit of vibrations I eventually noticed.

Glad there was no major damage. At least none of I have heard of yet. 5.n may not be a 'big one' but we don't exactly engineer stuff for earthquakes up here like you do as a habit in California and places.

Also Cam, you need a new sign in your bedroom now.

Fred, the last one we had in Peterborough was around 7-8 years ago.
