There's a movie I remember and I can't find it in Netflix nor a general search on the internet, nor the movie databases on the internet.

It was simply named ISLAND. Not THE ISLAND, or any other word with ISLAND, just ISLAND.

Made sometime in the 1970's, I think. There was a book written first, named ISLAND. It was about some pirates that captured a kid (girl? I think) and took her to this island overrun by pirates, where she/he eventually becomes one of them, I think.

Well, according to this List of every pirate movie ever made. your movie does not exist. Are you sure it wasn't one of Charles' dreams?

Closest is "The Island" with Micheal Caine.

I do remember a really bad Gina Davis movie where she was a female Pirate. Google tells me it was called "Cutthroat Island" so still not it.

I think your thinking of the Reincarnation of Peter Proud.

I found it, only it is incorrectly called "The Island" here and was made in 1980.

It was never released on DVD. That's what makes it so hard to find.

The reason I remember the name as Island is because it stuck in my head that the author only writes books with single word titles. Jaws, Island.

But you specifically said not "THE Island." hahahaha

For that, I give you this Pirate Girl whom I am sending to shiver your timbers.

Actually Peter Benchley used more than one word in a bunch of his titles. I think I could even dig up a copy of "The Deep" and "White Shark" if I rummaged through my old books from when I was younger. Also I think I owned "Beast" but that is indeed one single word.

Yes. He used more than one word. But the author of the article I read said he only used one word titles when he was explaining why the movie Island only had one word. That's why I think The Island is probably a misprint.

Edit: But I see a movie poster now and it does have "The" before the word island in small letters.

I understood. I just couldn't resist an opportunity to pick on you. Sorry. Pirates bring out the worst in people.
