I've searched for older threads on dogs, but they were older than I remember and most of the photos weren't on the servers anymore....leaving lots of comments about white space.
So, I thought I'd start a new "dog thread" with a "new dog":
Buddy was announced on FaceBook a few days ago, but I haven't had a chance to post here, where I can hopefully encourage a Pet thread that won't turn to simple doggy porn like so many others of the past!
A couple of weeks ago, while he was still at the breeders:
And now at home, as of this weekend:
Welcome Buddy. That is one cute pup.
OK, I have to ask... did you just happen to get a dog that poses well for photographs, or did you do test shoots of a bunch of dogs before making the final decision ?
I got him through a modeling agency.
He's really been better than I expected so far. We've always gotten our dogs from those postings "I can't keep my dog for whatever reason", so I've never had an 8-week old puppy. I'm enjoying seeing his puppyhood, but there ARE challenges.
We're working on the "nipping" (and his wanting to chew everything in sight} by staying on top of him. On the other hand, he's had very few accidents and has had zero "separation" issues from his mom and siblings.
He seems perfectly happy being with people, though we've read that so much of the socialization skills happen in the next few weeks so we want to introduce him to as many other dogs and people as possible.
The schedules and making sure we're keeping an eye on him make it impossible to get anything else done.
Ken, new respect for you!
Congrats Mark, that is indeed one cute pup!
Awww!! who's a cute widdo doggy? eh? yah, you are aren't you?
Hey!! stop chewing on my shoelaces!!!
Congrats, Mark. He's beautiful.
Nice pics Mark! Cute little guy. Is he a retriever or lab or something else?
We're scheduled to take home a Golden Retriever puppy in March (they're due to be born in January). Looking forward to that. Though you can laugh at me as you'll be further ahead of me on the puppy training curve.
I am sure my pics will not look as good as yours. Enjoy!
Buddy is absolutely adorable! Congratulations, Mark!
Thanks, Guys!
Buddy is a Lab...
Very sweet puppy Mark. Congratulations on the new addition to your family.
I got a new pup myself in August and she has been a great addition. This is HannaH.
Lawrence, she's got great eyes! Is she a chocolate lab?
I got him through a modeling agency.
Cam knows how that goes, though not for pets.
Great-looking dog! Almost makes me want one.
We rescued this guy several weeks ago to give our Dobie girl someone to play with.
Oh, and great looking puppy Mark.
No-go on the pho-to, Michael. The website says as I need to sign in!
She is a Chocolate Lab Mark. She's 6 months old this week and 46 pounds of crazy fun. She loves the snow up here in WinterPeg.
My previous Lab was 90lbs, but we're not expecting this one to be over 50lbs. Both mom and dad were smallish.
Well HannaH was the runt of the litter so I'm thinking she's not going to be that big....hoping maybe!!!
We might end up with the runt from this litter as well.
She was born outside and was out all night before the breeders knew about her. She's half the weight of Buddy and the others (4lbs instead of the 8lbs of the others), but she's been a fighter and MAN is she spunky. We told the breeders we would take her if no one else wants her, and we will.
But seeing the ongoing attention that Buddy needs from us, trying to do this with two puppies at the same time, especially as frenetic as she seems to be, might be a lot to handle.
Oh, and Brian, note that I wrote in my starting post:
"where I can hopefully encourage a
Pet thread"
I didn't want to exclude anyone with a cat, horse, gerbil or Penthouse Model.
Cute puppy Mark. Are you worried about loosing out on all the attention?
Actually, Mark can blame the dog for everything now.

Where can I find the Penthouse model breed? Or is that where can I breed with the Penthouse mode?, or is that... Oh, never mind.
Finally!! an opportunity to move on from the square room.
It's a wonder he didn't get a "boxer" to go with the square room.

Our experience was that two dogs were actually easier to handle than one, since they can amuse each other some of the time. They'll get into more trouble but probably do less real damage than a single pup.
The main downside (other than vet bills & grooming bills, or vacuuming in your case) is that when one dog can't get to sleep at neight you get :
whimper.. woof... Woof... WOOF WOOF... Woof woof whimper whimper... snore
but with two dogs you get something more like :
whimper WOOF woof WOOF woof WOOF woof WOOF woof WOOF woof (repeat forever)
Here we go, our rescue boy.
Wow!!! He's amazing looking!!!
Nice doggie!!!
Absolutely, Mark; Buddy is just adorable!
A few thoughts on your new dog.
This breed has several noteworthy traits:
Now who's easily trained?!
The Lab is quite protective of his family:
Lastly, he'll be right at home here on the message boards:
Yay!!! Buddy's here! I WILL be imposing on you and Joyce soon, for sure!
[quote=MarkSJohnson]We might end up with the runt from this litter as well.
do it. Do It! DO IT! I've been there. It only gets really crazy from the 3rd one on.
Beautiful puppies, guys...
Oh, yeah, Charles mentioned modeling
.
Awwww...congrats on the new puppie, Mark. He sure is adorable! You've captured him nicely in your photos!
Mary, I specifically posted those photos in the hopes that it would attract you back to the forums!
It's a wonder he didn't get a "boxer" to go with the square room.
Now that's funny!
Mark - your floors will never be that shiny again. Nice pics, too. Really cute dog.
Thanks Adrien!
When I searched for the older threads, I was reminded of your photo of your retriever puppy when he had a broken leg. How did he/she do at growing up?
She's doing just great. She just turned 5 and she's a lover of a dog. You've got a good memory.

(Oh well, I tried to link to an image. My skills are lame.)
Copy and paste of the URL worked though. Another good dog pic.
Here she is:
As a lover of golden retrievers there's nothing like a wet dog standing in front of you ready to shake that water off!
Does anyone have a golden doodle or labradoodle? My wife and I are thinking about getting a dog for our son who is 6 years old.
Here we go, our rescue boy.
Got to have a lot of Doberman in him?
He's a pure Dobie, but acts more like a pussycat.
Here he is with our girl.

THANK YOU HomeDad!
I am not a nostalgic person and don't like to dwell on the past but you hit a soft spot. This brings back many fond memories.

Beautiful dog! I have a friend with an albino doberman that is enormous. She can only go outside for about 30 minutes at a time during the day.
Isn't there another modelling contest coming up soon Cam?
Thanks for the link surgery, Mark.
HEHE. Unfortunately, not that I'm aware of, dude.
Here's a new picture of Teri that I got from a modeling page that her and her friends created on Facebook. The group page is called "Urban Dolls", for those who may want to check it out.
I don't mind the pictures, but she definitely does not belong in the dog thread!
Super nice shots.
Makes me remember why i prefer using the SLR over the point and shoot.
Makes me remember that i keep forgetting about going to the store and finally make a damn decision on the Nikon D90, D300s or the new D7000.

My daughter's ex boyfriend has a golden doodle. Cool dog and he does not shed.
Oh, look, the cute puppy thread is still hear.
::squish::
Eeww!! Who pooped on the Water Cooler floor?
