Add me to the "I got Schiftered" list

Sorry to bring up a sore subject. I thought that I had avoided the raffle situation but nooooo! I recently learned that I too, had been Schiftered.

The other day I was thumbing through my checkbook( you know, that ancient paper book thing you used to pay bills with).

because I needed a routing number to pay an online bill. It had been awhile since I last used the thing so I curiously scanned through the ledger?(whatever it's called) to see some of the old stuff I had purchased.

Well, lo and behold I see this description that says "AV123 raffle" in May of 2005. lol ugh!

I couldn't believe it. I checked my paypal records and didn't see anything that would indicate that I gave money to MLS. If you didn't know, most of the money was funded through paypal.

I immediately went online and checked my banking history to see if it was true. Yep, the guy got me for $50(It wasn't a lot but still disappointing to know I sent him any money at all). I guess I paid directly to av123 (similar to placing an online order with a debit/credit card) but don't remember doing it.

Anyway just thought I'd share.

Reminds me of The Cat in the Hat. I used to read the books as a kid, and my kids now watch the show on PBS. Instead of going for a ride on the Thingamajigger, he took you for a ride on the Schiftymascrewer!

That's odd you just realized that right now. I thought the states attorney office sent an email to each of the raffle victims about submitting a victim impact statement before the sentencing?

Regardless, AV123 still lives on...loud pop...buzzzzzzzzz.

Very odd indeed. I definitely checked my paypal records and saw no evidence of payment sent to his address.

From what I remember, I think a couple of raffles in the beginning were paid directly through AV123. I can't know for sure because it's difficult to find information.

Anyhow, I haven't a clue why I didn't receive a victim impact statement?

Ahh it makes some sense now. I bet the states attorney got the victim list solely off paypal records and hence the email addresses. If your donation to charities was through the company than that is probably the reason you didn't get the victim impact statement info.

Shifty's not really making a comeback is he? that's gotta be a joke(bad one).
