We entered into contract for our first house today. If everything checks out during inspections we may be home owners within 5 weeks! I guess it's time to consider packing...

Moving to nearby Owasso, about 20 minutes north of our current rent house. Time for a new tv and VP180 after we get settled in wink

Ha. Now you're talking! With our new house I am going to be picking up a VP180 and two more QS8s... :-)

I must have done everything wrong. When I bought my house, all I could think of was "Where the hell did all my money go?"

Congrats to the homeowners. Special congrats to Ken, in the Bay Area no less. That's no small feat.

It's not in the Bay Area, that's how!

Yeah, but Ken, what speakers are you buying?

Congratulations, all!

Congrats Ken. Peter, definitely not buying anything within first month of moving in. Now the CFO can't use the excuse that we are saving fo Down payment though. wink

I wish... It's 401(k), can't tap it until mid 2012. But it's not enough for retirement yet. The other account I maintain is one of my sister's.

I got a late start.

I'm in the middle of closing the deal on selling my house. Then leaving CT for Charleston, SC to buy a new place. It's all a little stressful at the moment.

I hear that.

I am in the 4th months in my new place now.....same question with other here....Where the hell is all my money gone????

I am so glad I was able to buy during the 8k tax rebate with a VA nothing down loan. It funded all my HT upgrades and then some, still leaving me 12k in the bank. It doesn’t hurt having a $460/month house payment (less than my previous rent), including insurance and property tax, either. 

But, congratulations to all you new-home buyers! Feels nice doesn’t it?

If you pay taxes you pay for everything I get wink . . . at least until the government can’t print any more money.

Inspections went well. Had a little negotiating to do but we came to agreement on price, repairs, etc. Closing date should be Sept. 16. As long as everything is repaired as agreed we should be moving soon!

Time to start packing...

We close on our house today!

After our final inspection there are a few last minute minor fixes the seller is having to do this morning. within the next few hours I will join the endless work and money spending club!

Excellent! Congratulations!
Posted By: Ken.C Re: Purchased a house (almost) - 09/15/11 11:10 AM
Congrats, David!

I've been in that club for about 2 weeks now. It's ... something.

Actually, the unpacking is worse. Unfortunately, we'll need an electrician sooner than we thought. What kind of a f(*&!ng moron puts a microwave on the same 15A circuit as 2 bathrooms and kitchen lights, with all 3 rooms containing fans?
Posted By: Murph Re: Purchased a house (almost) - 09/15/11 02:40 PM
Gratz David. Yes, it's hard work but nothing is more exiting than moving into a new home. So many possibilities!

Ken, The couple of times I have asked an electrician to add a new plug (damn you AV addiction) I also noticed that they just look for the most convenient, existing circuit to bridge onto and certainly did not check or ask what it might already be feeding. Luckily I already knew what was working where so I knew things would work out.
