Axiom Home Page
Posted By: RickF Question for the iPad users... - 12/19/11 11:40 PM
Just this evening my Axiom forum page is loading the left hand side information (blog, wall'o fame, who's online and etc) almost half of the width of the overall page whereas in the past it's always been more like a 75/25 split with the forum taking up the majority of the page, on my home PC the page is normal.

Has the forum started loading like this on anybody else's mobile devices, namely iPads?

Sure makes the forum reading mighty small!

It's loading like that on my PC as well.

It's loading that way on my PC also.

Maybe I need to go back and do a re-check, I thought it loaded normal on my PC.

Using Chrome it loads funny, using Firefox it loads normal.

Oh OK, I'm using Firefox.

Firefox renders the page with a narrow left side column because it seems to ignore the current CSS code which is set to display the column at 15% of the available screen size. This 15% sizing is being adhered to by every other browser.

Check Browserling to verify the look of the site in many different browsers (and many versions of those browsers).

I use FF on my PC, but Safari on my iPod shows the larger column width too.

Using IE8 it looks real funny, maybe 50/50 split.

Has your iPad always shown it like this or did it just start? Up until this evening my iPad brought the forum up exactly like my home PC using Firefox.

Likewise on Safari. It's got to be an issue with Webkit (which powers Safari, Chrome, just about all mobile browsers out there other than MIE...)

In IE9 it is loading about 40/60, with the left column being the 40%. YUCK! frown

IE9 here and the left side looks about 25% of total width.

Hey I'm back to normal once again. The page looks to be an 85/15 split, perfect!

It was all the iPads fault. My Android was fine. wink grin

Hey Cam, just looking at your new avatar. I wonder what would happen if the guy sneezes. Would it sound like a sneeze or a fart?

laugh

Good question. It could sound like his ears popping, too.

I say you try it smile . I'll come over and help push with my chair!

Sorry, the results would be scientifically invalid as I have trouble popping my ears. I've always wanted to scuba dive but can not do so.

I'd hate to skew results like that.
