Did it involve pictures?
Perhaps like the ones I found when I looked up this thread in Google cache?

You wish....!

It was a computer question involving speeding up my sister's computer. I came to the conclusion that I wouldn't have much time to work on it anyway, so I deleted the post.

Plus, I knew it would drive some of you up the wall in speculation!

Standard answers
1. More ram
2. Defrag the HD or better yet...
2.1 Format & reinstall everything
3. Buy new

Additional Ideas
4. Add an SSD and load the OS and most used app(s) on it.
5. Registry Cleaner (or simply go back to 2.1
6. Whatever the next bunch say

Number 2 and number 5 fill me with rage and loathing.

She hardly uses this 2-year-old Dell....booting it maybe once a month. Her 10-year-old twins get on it, though, and I wouldn't be surprised if there is spyware or similar on it. Explorer in particular is very very slow, though Speedtest.net shows good connection speeds when I tried it with the FireFox I downloaded. (I cleared the Explorer cache).

I just know that some of these "spyware" programs are essentially spyware themselves, so I was wondering what the current recommended product might be.

Edit:
I'll run a full system scan next time I'm there and have a moment.

Malwarebytes is your best bet for nuking most spyware.

Thank you, Ken!

2 & 5 are exactly why I'd rather do 2.1

Forgot about Malware killers. Good idea.

Also, check and see how much bloatware came pre-installed on it when it came from Dell. Un-install all the crap, again possibly sending you back to 2.1 <snicker>.

Also, what is it using for a firewall/antivirus? Some are slower than others. Also, if a third party firewall is installed, disable the Windows one (or whichever you trust the least.) Double inspecting everything is also a time killer.

Aren't you glad you deleted your post?

Well, it's too bad you deleted the post because you probably would have gotten some good advice on speeding up a PC.

It's a Dell.
Put go cart wheels on it and push it down a hill.
They go superfast.
Heck, i bet Dell even sells those wheels.

Dell isn't that bad....but try speaking to an english person about a problem. Might change your mind!
