This story is so awesome. So what would you do with them?

I would sell the majority of them and make hundreds of thousands in the process. For the most valuable and rare cards I would hire a lawyer to work out a contract with the Baseball Hall of Fame for them to show on display. The deal would be that when I die, the cards then become property to whom its dictated out in the will. The HOF would then have to release the cards immediately. The family member(s) then could do whatever they want with them - keep them, loan them to the HOF, sell them.

Great story. When I saw it yesterday on my news feed, I imagined the same thing but with comic books. I collected them heavily for many years and couldn't imagine what I'd do if I found 16 mint copies of Action Comics #1 in Grandpa's attic.

I'd definitely sell a few right away to shore up my personal finances and set up for retirement early. Travel, see the world.

I read that they are going to be careful not to flood the market with too many of these cards at once, lest they devalue them.

From the AP story, this nugget tells you just what a find this was:

"The company [Professional Sports Authenticator] grades cards on a 1-to-10 scale based of their condition. Up to now, the highest grade it had ever given a Ty Cobb card from the E98 series was a 7. Sixteen Cobbs found in the Ohio attic were graded a 9 — almost perfect."

These are true treasures of America's past time. I hope they can make there way to Cooperstown, for all visitors to see.

Those cards are true works of art. Especially in context looking at them as a complete set. One of my favorite things about these is not only the rarity and condition but the "allure" that nobody knows who was the actual manufacture of this particular set of cards. What a find!!!
