I just cam across this, and I still cannot believe it. It is so funny that I though I have to share it. The even bigger issue is that the item is sold by one good company IMO: Parts Express and is made by another decent company - Behringer. Here it is:
"Behringer EPQ1200 Europower 1200W Lightweight 2-Ch Power Amp". So I thought... hell, if it puts up a third of that it still sound like a good deal for an outdoor digital amp.

Upon reading the entire description I finally got to the specs list; it turns out that:
1. 1200 W is the sum of the two channels; OK.. still not bad.
2. It's Peak power... not RMS. Oh oh...
3. The power is into a 4 ohm load. Now it starts to get crazy.
4. The actual power is 250W @ 8 ohm per channel.

How in the world they get away with this? I guess the Axiom Amps are waaaaay overpriced grin

And to end it on an even funnier note, here is a sample from one "review":
"The wattage thing might be a bit overrated. I would suggest this amp for monitors.
If used for mains it might be pushing it."

Really??? 1200W is not enough for main floorstanding speakers?? Just LOL.
I hope you guys will have a laugh; here is the link http://www.parts-express.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?partnumber=248-6560.
The dials go to 32.

That's WAY better than 11.

let's not forget that those are pro amps, i.e. they're made for and sold to musicians; they're not made for HT, although they can be used for it.

how about this one, selling for $370. in many stores:

@St_PatGuy: Yep... it's that easy.

if you'd like to know more about pro-amps, have a look at this very instructive forum thread:
http://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=141383

have a look at the link in my signature.
those 2 pro-amps you see below the monitor have excellent sound, lots of power, run cool, cost little compared to "audiophile" amps (no 1.5 inch thick CNC aluminum front panel or lead added to the bottom plate) ; the build is "like a tank", the looks are good, and i don't hear the fan as soon as weak sounds come out of the speakers.

i just measured the noise level in my HT room;
2 pro-amps "off": 33 dBA
2 pro-amps "on" : 35.6 dBA
