Sony Canada sent me this link to my email:

http://store.sony.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?storeId=20153&langId=200&catalogId=100803&identifier=S_TV_4K&XID=E:Oct2012_4K_84

At just $25,000 each, I think that I might get a couple, ha!!

I was wondering when someone would use 3D technology to do the gaming thing where "split screen" mode of having 2 people playing a game at the same time looking at the same screen would just be different "shutters" of the glasses so that they can see just their viewpoint and at full screen.

I wonder if it is "fast enough" for gaming though since it basically cuts the refresh rate in half since you are only getting every other screen refresh.

When active shutter* TVs are running in 3D mode they're at 2x the frame rate. So cutting the refresh rate in half gets you back to the base rate.

*Passive 3D displays show both frames at the same time, so wouldn't matter there either.

LG does the split screen 3D thing for $2,500 MSRP. Seems less expensive to me. laugh

Sony also does it for $250: http://us.playstation.com/ps3/accessories/sony-playstation-3d-display-ps3/index.html even more less expensive. But there's something other than price lost with each order of magnitude.

As contrasted to the LG, this beast is 84" & sports the new 4K resolution standard. While I love Sony TVs, this one is definitely too rich for me; however, as always, it will be more reasonably priced in a couple of years.

It's becoming almost impossible to keep up anymore...
