Interesting.
They appear to be "write once" though. Which is kind of a step backwards in my opinion.

Although I can see it being more exiting for someone like yourself Mark, who has to maintain a ton of AV in long term storage. Like my caption winning Christmas card, for instance. I refuse to take mine down off my fridge.

And I still keep your partially-eaten cookie on my desk.

Ants be damned.

Be DAMNED, I SAY!

That would be cool. Since about 1999 we've archived our digital photos for that year. First was on to a CD, and then two CDs, and then a single layer DVD, then dual layer, then 2 dual layers, then single layer blu-ray, and now that we added our digital camcorder a few years ago, I am burning about 4 dual layer blu-rays a year. I haven't done 2013 yet, but I am not looking forward to it since we jumped up mid year to a 21 megapixel camera.

I have these backed up locally on an external hard drive (that keeps getting swapped for bigger drives) and the discs get sent to my in-laws for "off site archiving."

Sad thing is that we have so many pictures that keeping them identified and sorted is a pain, and honestly on the video, we never go back and watch anything.

I blame the wife.

Seriously, I'll bet that 4D is gonna make porn look just plain gross! I mean, like, gross-out gross!

Reed-Solomon is still pretty fec'ing cool.

Chris, you know better than waste your time replying to any reference I make to things technical. I have no idea (aside from the obvious) what the Reed-Solomon Error Correction Code Method is or does. However, if you say it's a great thing, then I must agree. My respect for your electronica minutiae is unparalleled.

Seriously, though, Bandit has moved beyond it.

I subscribe to Bandit's blog. It's true, he hasn't mentioned this in some time. He is currently ranting about how 4K TVs are making dog food commercials gross and how only dogs with sufficient amounts of hair to cover thier butts are getting cast now.
