Almost 3 years ago we got two cats. A female calico that was 2 years old, and a male (part siamese) that was 8 months. They lived together happily up until this weekend.

As the two cats were shedding quite profusely, I took each of them out onto the deck to give them a good brush. I started with the male and all was well, then put him back inside. Then took the female out for her turn.

I don't know if I made the mistake, but instead of carrying her in, I put her down on the deck so she could walk in through the back door. The male was at the back screen door, and he just fillped out, arch back and hissing fire and brimstone.

Now the two cats can't be anywhere near each other without the male just loosing it. He won't even let anyone near him if they have been near the female cat.

We have 4 'Rescued' Cats (3 White ones & 1 Tuxedo). Actually, 2 adopted us, ha!

I fully agree - herding & feeding them throughout the day can be a chore. Then try to get them in at night!!

All 4 of them seem to overreact if another gets into its 'space'. IOW, they never seem to really get along for some reason. Then there is leather furniture, grrrr. Thankfully they've left all of my Axioms alone, ha!!

But, they make life more interesting & I enjoy their company when they decide to bless me with it...

Further to my last.

I forgot that we really have 5. Additionally we have one Feral Gray Tuxedo that we call Tommy who we feed & provide a yard to hang out in. Unfortunately, our Tuxedo hates him so there is a continual war going on between them. Oddly enough, the 3 white ones get along with him just fine.

Then there is a local raccoon that just loves Tommy's cat food at the front door. The coon seems to coexist with the felines as well...

Racoons may be flea infested. Several years ago, a racoon got in my house and it was almost impossible to get rid of all the fleas. Just saying. Check the cats for fleas.
