Unfortunately, one of the better AV sites out there seems to be fading. Sad:

I rarely went out to that site, but I did find it less toxic in many ways that AVS. Both are owned by the same company, but they clearly didn't want to invest in HTS.

One of the things that they were known for was the extensive information on using REW...

Too bad. Some nice folks there. We should invite them over.

I think they were a little too strict with their no tolerance rules. I stopped my activity there when my posts were edited for language. Very, very mild language.

Heck. What the heck! laugh

I had started a build thread there at the same time and you guys were much more involved and interested here. smile

That's to sad!!!
Found the best run down of how to attenuate pro gear in that site. Guess it's not as popular as the other site.

Bought out to be shut down? That's too bad.

Interesting to read the posts following the article (6 pages).

Now even HTS is being bashed...

I see GTP is dancing around his bashing of companies in that thread too. He gets called out on it though for voicing opinions and facts, using profanity, and just unjustified bashing.

I'm glad they have taken notice of their strict rules damaging activity. I think they should relax their language rules for sure. Their rules created a homgenized "pat you on the back for sucking" user base. Their really isnt any level of criticism tolerated there. Its healthy and constructive for conversation to have dissent. smile

Its like the two squirels in that cartoon "No after you" "Oh no I couln't, you first." "Are you sure, really, you are too kind." Bleck.

I still think this little ole place has the balance just right. wink

I also noticed when Sonnie sold the remaining cast didn't really see their tests through to the end. Their monster comparison tests were fun and I miss them.

A little bit of Foghorn Leghorn is good within reason.

"Ya he-ah what I'm sayin' bwaah."

I donno. I've seen lots of criticism & divergent views in posts there, especially wrt speakers; however, opinions that are based on untruths & BS are called out, & rightly so. That doesn't happen in AVS until it gets out of hand & all hell breaks loose.

It's just that HTS wants the conversation to remain half-assed decent & civil, a trait that has been been lost in places like AVS where much of the content there often degenerates into really juvenile discourse...

That's a big loss, IMO. Always liked it there, especially the REW stuff. I hope it will be preserved, somehow. Can't stomach either AVS or AH, so I guess you guys are stuck with me and you will have to up your games, somewhat.

Guys - Check out Home Theater Forum. The mods actually respond to trolls, and it's a friendly place. Give and take is encouraged, while douchebaggery (LOVE that word) is shot down.

I'm glad to hear that maroon is being shut down.

I'll be checking out your reviews there from time to time.
