I read an interesting CES summary yesterday. The writer has been at this show every year since its inception.

His main comment was that CES was no longer a place where you went to be amazed by new technologies the way it was in its early years, but was more a place to go to see how things have been refined from last years products.

That leaves me wondering if the rate of technological change is finally slowing or if the venues for new tech are just more distributed because of the internets.

I was going to post this in the Axiom Air thread, but it wasn't the right place. Look for more reports on these bad boys. I met them in person over Christmas in Calgary. They are ridiculous. Ridiculous. If I could afford them.....

I would like to hear them. $5,109 for a pair isn't insane, but I don't know when I"ll have that kind of spending money again. When I do, it'll go to UHD and Atmos/DTS:X.

I think it's as much that anything new is flashed on the internet instantly and so you can reach a mega market any day of the week. Before, you would save up your great idea and use shows like CES to get market flash.

if you tried to hold of now, you would loose out as either someone else would release what you had thought up and scoop you out of sales, or something better would come along in the mean time and you loose your punch.

Take a look at the selfie case that showed at CES where the Chinese clone market is selling the idea before the inventor has even started selling the original.

They are worth a drive to see them. They look like sci-fi space helmets in person. I had written them off as silly until I heard them. Thought they were a high end gimmick.

If you couldnt see them, you would swear they were a full range setup with subs. Their bass response was actually tactile. Hard to beleive. They play ridiculously loud and crystal clear. There was ZERO vibration in the enclosure. We demoed low frequency music and I left my hand on top while the opposing woofers did their dance. It was hard to beleive they were moving that fast and far without causing any vibration. Unreal. Super cool. It was fun.

If I was to hit reset on my 2ch setup these would be considered. They replace everything and take up the space of a couple bookshelves. If anyone else here sees them in person I'd love to read their impression.

I was hoping craigsub might be able to get a crack at them, but I can understand balking at the price and limitations of their use.
