I've made a bunch of audio related wallpapers recently...not all Axiom, but they're fun. If you've got a request, let me know. I'll try to make something nice.

I didn't do all these today! These were over the course of this week.

Thanks Spiff. I got Axiom powered by Rotel on my kids computer screen.I got it from you through the Rotel Club at Ht guide forum. One again thanks.
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Wallpapers - 10/17/03 07:19 PM
Do you use Photoshop in your day job? If you ever have the need, you can justify all these as "brushing up on your skills."
Posted By: spiffnme Re: Wallpapers - 10/17/03 08:34 PM
Yeah, on ocassion I've use Photoshop here at work. And indeed I do use that as an excuse.

I agree. The background makes a huge difference. Wanna know how to make a brushed metal look? Tip coming soon...
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Wallpapers - 10/20/03 11:04 PM
Here's a wallpaper for the system I wish I had:

Magnepan + Parasound Halo
Posted By: spiffnme Re: Wallpapers - 10/20/03 11:27 PM
Brushed metal...yes please!
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Wallpapers - 10/20/03 11:37 PM
  1. Start with a blank image.
  2. Use the Add Noise filter to add around 80% monochromatic uniform noise.
  3. Now apply a horizontal Motion Blur of about 100 pixels.
  4. Under the Other filter category, choose Offset.
  5. Choose a horizontal offset of around 150 pixels and select Wrap Around.
  6. Now use the rubber stamp tool (with a largish brush) to erase the seam.

Pretty seemple, eh?

Very cool. Where did you learn that trick?
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Wallpapers - 10/20/03 11:42 PM
I don't remember. It was a few years ago. Some website, though.
Posted By: spiffnme Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 01:51 AM
OK...your "dream" system inspired me to make my own "dream" wallpaper.

Snell XA Reference Towers
Snell XA 2900 Center
Snell SR30 Surrounds
Rel Studio III Subwoofer
Odyssey Stratos amp

Not sure what I'd use as a processor yet.
Posted By: DJ_Stunna Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 01:58 AM
Very nice - heh. If you ever got that, we'd have to kill you and steal it .
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 05:18 PM
I always found the name Snell to be humorous. Makes me think of someone with a cold.

"I can't snell. By dose is all stuffd ub."
Posted By: twodan19 Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 05:26 PM
somewhat like we used to say as kids " he who sNelt it dealt it". read into this as you wish.

Have any of you ever heard Snell speakers? I still own my Snell type K/II's and love them. I've never heard the XA towers, but I'd imagine a company like Snell's "flagship" speaker would have to be pretty amazing.

The Rel subwoofer is the only thing I've ever heard other than a Hsu what truly amazed me. Granted, it's $3000, but wowwie, wow, wow, wow. Now THAT's some bass. (And it looks nice too.)

I don't think the ultimate processor has been made for me yet. I'd want something like that nifty calibration system the new receivers have. I'd want full HD video switching. Multiple DVI inputs...and it'd have to come in silver.
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 07:15 PM
But you're missing a miniature video screen right on the front!
Posted By: DJ_Stunna Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 07:58 PM
In reply to:

Mark Levinson!! Although personally, I find that screen on the video processor unattractive.
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 08:29 PM
Same here. It would be distracting. I suppose they need *something* flashy and "mine's better than yours" like that to justify the price....
Posted By: spiffnme Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 08:40 PM
I agree...I don't quite understand the point of the little mini-screens. The new Rotel RSP-1098 has one. It's flashy, but seems quite pointless. Save the money and put that savings into the guts of the piece I say.
Posted By: Saturn Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 09:11 PM
For me or FP users it would be excellent because the menu system can only be viewed if the monitor out on the receiver/processor is connected to the FP or another video device which is a pain.
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 09:42 PM
Hadn't thought of that. I suppose it would come it pretty handy during initial setup and any other time you didn't want to fire up your display device.

I certainly hope you can turn the display off, though.
Posted By: tomtuttle Re: Wallpapers - 10/21/03 10:18 PM
Anybody heard the new Snell subwoofer? It supposedly has REALLY "fast" bass.

It's called the Mox Snell.

Sorry.
Posted By: spiffnme Re: Wallpapers - 10/30/03 06:36 PM
OK...I finally made one for my own stuff.

I see there's a Halloween theme in there, too. Speaker ghosts!

Now HERE is a real wall paper!!! Oh man! sooooooo beautiful. Just gotta hide my screen from my gf - she'd get jealous too quickly...

Here's the whole lot of them

Oh man - Here's another...

Hah she's SOOOOOO beautiful.

She's also like 10,000 miles away, dude. Sucks to fall in love with pictures, don't it?
Posted By: DJ_Stunna Re: Wallpapers - 11/05/03 07:38 AM
Yea, it's gotta be one of the worst things... EVER!
Posted By: DJ_Stunna Re: Wallpapers - 11/08/03 07:44 PM
I've made one, but it is no where near the level of spiffnme's. Just took a pic of the tweeter and chopped it off and put it on a black background...

Here
Posted By: sushi Re: Wallpapers - 11/08/03 08:01 PM
Hmm... It looks pretty bright and metallic...
Posted By: DJ_Stunna Re: Wallpapers - 11/08/03 08:05 PM
But you just said the two 'bad words' here on this forum - lol.
