I think it would be a cool idea to share songs that really moved you. Great lyrics, epic composition, extremely cool mix, whatever.
What songs made you go holy snap!
I’ll start.
Travelling Willburys- End of the line
Instant happy face! Even if you put a pen through the dryer!
The most recent artist I've gotten into is Mon Laferte. Even though she's huge in Latin America, I was completely oblivious. I like that she hasn't settled into a single style, but rather really likes to train her voice to do new things. Probably the song (and particularly this performance) that gets passed around the most is this one:
Mon Laferte - Tu Falta De Querer (En Vivo)It starts out a bit unassuming, but then she gets to the chorus and belts it out. By the end, you can tell she left it all out there on the stage.
Are entire albums ok, or would you prefer specific songs/tracks?
Mojo, the Notting Hillbillies were really great.
CV you cheated! Very powerful performance. Liked it.
Albums are great!! Fire away Andrew.
Here is another of my faves. Big and Bombastic.
Depeche Mode-Personal Jesus. Violator is a solid Album for great and punchy mixes.

I saved that one. Brings back memories on the dance floor.
Yeah...I put the Hillbillies on every time I'm camping or start my deck on fire.
The 12", extended mix of Personal Jesus is amazing...it's an amazing system workout! Ah, who cares...it's just a great song!
This song came up in my discover weekly. Big fan of Daft Punk, so this song really had me grinning. Robot Rock! Super fun track.
Release the Beast- Breakwater

David Gilmour - Live in Pompeii
Track- The Blue
This is one is a bit moody. But those are the best Gilmour songs in my opinion. I found the smooth rhythmic bass very soothing accompanied by Gilmour’s mildly haunting tone leaves a brooding and reflective mood.
As a side note too the whole album is pretty good. Sounded more convincing on my headphones than my speakers.
Overall a satisfying experience.
Nice! Im guessing Dire Straits is right up there for you as well.
Liked it.
Oh yeah. I really enjoy Dire Straits. Especially their 1978 album.
Love at Pompeii is a good listen beginning to end if you have the time. Glad you liked it!!
I’m just wading into “ The Endless River “. It’s very atmospheric. Gapless playback is a must for that one. ( or anything live too , in my opinion. ).
I’ve got this on my listen list too. It’s a bit a change in genre that I’m used too but I’m trying new things.

First really warm day of the year here.
Celebration song with a face melting synth solo.
Think Stranger things.... on a beach.
Mitch Murder- Breeze

"First really warm day of the year here."
That's really sad!
Oh hell yeah TrevorM!!! This Mitch Murder is f-ing awesome!!! I’m in love with it. Immediately added to my playlists. It’s a lot of fun. Superb electronic smoothness and the bass! My god the bass! Great find and lots of fun. Thankyou!
Stranger Things at the beach. Totally.
Breeze is really, really wide on the M2OW. Very cool!
Yeah! Glad you liked it.
A friend I set up with M5s shared this one! Enjoy. Huge sound and very full and warm.
Hilario Duran - From the heart

Forgot all about this one till spotify put in my discover weekly. Mum would blast this in the car when we were kids running errands. Lol.
Awesome song in Dolby Surround as well.
Genesis- The Brazilian

Big fan of the movie Interstellar, and the themes it presents facing the (distant?) future of humanity.
Anyway, I cant help but imagine the first crew on the way to Mars to set up the colony outpost whenever I hear this song. Sweeping and epic in scale, with bass washing over me like waves of space radiation. A great crank it and escape listen.
Thomas Barrandon- No Human Will Come Back
https://open.spotify.com/track/3TfsRshPgkthK6jbQXL4LS?si=Fg61c_e9T96oYVMJ-YB68Q
I love these tracks but damn, Spotify is very spastic on my end! not high end fidelity at all. Is anyone using a steaming device like blue sound? Or the streaming service Tidal? I've heard of them, and will dive further for us all.
I use bluos in my NAD receiver in the basement. Does the job!
If you have a receiver with spotify connect that would be the preferred method over bluetooth. I use bluetooth upstairs from an ipad mini to an arcam rblink. Sounds great.
Btw, the issue I’ve found with bluetooth is as much in the sender as in the receiver. My newish ipad mini sounds much much better than my phone. Dunno why.
Big sucker for New wave and synth pop from the 80s. Anyway, everytime this song comes on I cant help but turn it up. Happy beat, sad song.... super catchy synth bass hook.
Heaven 17- Let MeGo!
https://open.spotify.com/track/2VpWQNy9Ywa6rIPX4l54A2?si=NT9vDtZwSP-_gauhmyHWuQTemptation is their better known hit single, featured years later in the club scene in the movie Trainspotting.

Big sucker for New wave and synth pop from the 80s.
The first thing I thought of when I read that was ..Yaz ... the album I’m thinking of is “You and Me Both”.
Big fan of the movie Interstellar
That’s a great movie .... I recently bought the 4K blu-ray version of it.
I’m now waiting for Gravity to come out In 4K Atmos
Big sucker for New wave and synth pop from the 80s.
The first thing I thought of when I read that was ..Yaz ... the album I’m thinking of is “You and Me Both”.
Yaz is too far reaching for me... kind of put them in the realm of Yello and Kraftwerk. I appreciate them for what they are, but just too Much of a good thing.... lol.
They used to use the song “Situation” when they drew the balls for King’s bingo during the news when I was a kid back in Calgary on CFCN. Dunno why I remembered that.
Maybe Mojo remembers...
Hans Zimmers work on Interstellar was great, almost as good as what he did on Inception or The Thin Red Line.
Quite some time ago I recommended the Hans Zimmer Live in Prague concert blu-Ray.
So I’ll say it again, it’s a great performance of clearly recognizable “cues or themes” from some of the films he has contributed to. He and his company Remote Control Productions. You might be surprised by the number of successful film score professionals who are or have previously worked there.
Jeff
I dunno about Situation on King's Bingo but I know all about Yaz, Kraftwerk and others at Times nightclub in downtown Winnipeg. That place was my nightly workout from 6 to close, 5 days a week for 18 months back in the late 80s. I'm pretty sure I invented jerking, twerking and a few others in that place.
A bunch of fat cats decided to destroy the grungy but so interesting downtown and disperse all the colorful folks who punctuated it and filled it with life. Rotten turds!
It was in Winnipeg too! Lol. Kinsmen Club Bingo.

OMG! KIngo Bingo. LOL!
Here's another blast from the past with my high school friend Lisa Best.

Nice although a little repetitive ...
I'm listening on phones since the HT system is packed up.
Yeah. In his room the chorus of violins will be a chorus multiplied by his room.. His decay times are likely 2 seconds. That was the point of the pick.
That’s how tgey truck you into buying speakers in the store. Simple tracks with good dynamic range. Or “girls and guitars” as they say.
Nice but not the same in headphones for sure.
I'm listening to it on the M5OW. It's difficult to know how many violins are playing. 5 or 6? Maybe the active LFRs will do a better job of resolving them.
Think Trevor has gone terminator on us with his new picture ...
I think that's Hannibal. I haven't listened on the LFRs yet. In my basement, maybe it will sound like 20 violins.
Hannibal? Well whatever it is it’s a bit darker then the old one
Hannibal Lecter. You know. The guy who likes to eat livers with fava beans and a fine Chianti.
I know the character but didn’t recognize that picture ...
personally, I’m not a big horror flick guy ...
Anyway, thought it might be Trevor with a bit of mood lighting
The red eye reminded me of Terminator hence the comment ...
Now that I know, if he invite me to lunch I think I’ll pass.
No fava beans with a nice chianti for you?
IMG pile was being weird and my avatar was in and out. I will update it one day when I don't look so tired. Lol.
Here is another great one for lively rooms. Not as repetitive this time.
And totally themed for the occasion. Can you guess the scene?...... Infamous. Chilling.
Q Lazzarus- Goodbye Horses
https://open.spotify.com/track/5itqAWiPW1961LJSXhz1s9?si=2e2bcd55dc0846b0
Hannibal Lecter films aren't horror. They are psychological thrillers. Horror consists of unholy entities that can only be killed by incantations or implements blessed with holy water. Lecter on the other hand can be quickly dispatched with a Colombian necktie using nothing more than 2 fingers and a thumb. He's a total pussy!
Rich, you gotta man up a little bit. How about watching some Ash vs Evil Dead with your missus tonight? When the deadites come, I won't be able to protect you from them or the Kandarian Demon.
I have no idea what scene that song is from, Trevor.
When buffalo bill is putting on makeup and a dress and says in the mirror “ would you f#$& me? I would f#$& me”
Then stands up straight with his arms extended. Camera pulls back and its full frontal with his junk tucked looking like a total pshyco. And that song is playing. Creepy as ever.
Darn it, Trevor. I can only hear 5 violins on my actives. I knew from the very beginning those actives were defective. 2 more tweeters and two more mid-woofers on the outboard side ought to fix them!
Running in new M5OW surrounds before new Dirac calibration. With only 4 surrounds playing in stereo mode this song bounces all over. With the diffusers and absorber panels doing their thing, you’d be hard pressed not to think the mains are on too. Full immersion from speakers beside and behind me. Humungous headphones. Pretty fun.
Kygo- Sexual Healing (Marvin Gaye remix)

Groovy fun tune! I like the start with cool percussion especially. Nice.
Found it on YT Music. It's spraying all over my walls.
Glad you guys liked it! Really fun in atmos.
Rewatching Rocky series. Epic.
From the first one after he fights Spider Rico. Awesome chillout tune. Drive at night jam.
Kool and the Gang- Summer Madness.

Found this song by chance the other day. I was first familiar with a version sampled in Mr Scruffs- Get a move on. This version of the entire song is a treat. Saxophone fans should enjoy.
Moondog- Bird’s Lament
https://open.spotify.com/track/1EuFHPoVGfyfEZBaYExK7v?si=CLnY-LapTzGCIvWIV2CkBA
Lately been on a classical kick. This one is reminiscent of too many great Horror and Halloween movies growing up! Reminds me of Sleepy Hollow. Very enveloping and sounds great in Dolby surround or stereo.
Camille Sainte Saens- Danse Macabre OP.40 R.171
https://open.spotify.com/track/0pCHzhuRt6kOU3FUEG3HnC?si=12e37eda40a64a14
It's freakin' HUUUGE on the M2OW in the living room. Wrap-around soundstage and good depth too. So glad I set them up on the long wall to get my 25'+ soundstage. I bet it would sound even deeper if I blow out my bow window.
Here is a cheeseball Euro Trashy song. But…. With stupendous bass.
Warning:Subwoofer recommended at loud volumes. May damage speakers at high volumes if ran full range.
Fun Starts at 1:25. Back massage at 1:50 or so.
Matsubs- War (bass boosted)
https://youtu.be/kpqFAUA2ZywDont wreck your speakers! I warned ya.
Have fun!
Big fan and sucker for lowfi grooves. Heres a perfect Sunday cruiser for your system. Enjoy.
