Taking a look at the titles, it would appear that the Axiom powers that be didn't expect so many of us to become such insane regulars around here. Seems like a new criteria for titles is in order, no?
Everyone has a title within the forum. You will notice them below the Username in each post. Some titles are automatically assigned based on the number of posts a user has made, and some titles are assigned by the forum owner to denote official representatives of the company or other VIPs in the forums.
Here is the list of the standard titles and # of posts to achieve them:
0 newbie
5 regular
10 frequent flier
20 hobbiest
30 enthusiast
40 addict
60 old hand
100 veteran
200 local
300 addict
Here's my proposal...
0 newbie
25 regular
50 frequent flier
100 hobbiest
200 enthusiast
500 addict
750 old hand
1000 local
1500 veteran
What say thee good people?
Craig, agree that an expansion of the numbers brackets is in order. Never been able to figure out why the addictiveness is temporarily lost only to mysteriously return a few brackets later. That should be dropped and I'd think that "veteran" would be good for the last title.
btw...congrats on just breaking the 1000 posts mark!
Good edit. I kind of like the numbers. Gives me something to shoot for...
I think you all just need something else to look forward to in your posting count. Addict just isn't good enough for you anymore! I'm not even sure what I'm up to, but I'll get there eventually. Extra categories can't hurt...even if I do get to the top one I still don't feel like I post as much as some people around here.
I just checked since this came up...I've made it up to 264. I guess I am not that far away from the top ranking of 300. The idea will probaly get approved and the numbers will change just as I hit 299 :P
local should be 3rd to last and old hand should be 2nd to last
just my opinion
another thing-maybe its just me, but stereo and HT generate very similiar questoins. i know they are different but the questions are usually either receiver based or speaker baseed('what type of ---- should i get', 'how do i fix this -----' etc.
As long as we're making suggestions to change titles, how about we make this change, too:
hobbiest should be hobbyist
--------------------
"I'm hobbier than you!"
"No you're not! I'm the hobbiest person there is!
perhaps the titles should also be related to how long one has been an axiom owner. a two word post, agreeing with another's should not count either.

Yikes, that would require overhauling the titles system to count words rather than posts! Also, I see it creating a very bad trend around here. You don't really want people to forego brevity in favor of long-windedness for the sole purpose of upping their title, would you?
That would be a very very very very very great temptation for some forum members, I would think.
you're not finger pointing are you. my thoughts were to not count the LOL, me too, etc. type of replies.

"When I look in the mirror, I can't believe what I see
Tell me, who's that funky dude, staring back at me?"
That funky dude is the only person I'm pointing at.
(anyone know that song?)
Shivering in the cold
I'm bitter and alone
Excuse the bitching
....
Screw this crap, I've had it!
I ain't no Mr. Cool
I'm a pig, I'm a dog
What is Weezer The Good Life?
I'll take songs for a thousand Trebec...
G, [scrape], G, G, E
(repeat 4x)...
is that a song?
G G G E
sounds like chords
Yep. That's the guitar intro to the song. I (used to) play guitar, but I haven't touched one in a year, really. I'll have to pick it up again and brush up on my lullaby repertoire.
I like it Spiffnme, it makes sense.
Rick
white stripes?
i forgot the name of the song though
So if you're counting words now, do all these non HT related posts still count? Ahh, but they are about music in a way, so does that make them count? Where is the line drawn?
Changing the titles and amounts to get there is fine, but lets not overcompliate things.
Oh. My. God. I just realized your avatar is doing the Macarena.
I'm frigh-tend!
Just a couple of months ago...after I posted in another thread...they backed away..
Do I smell or something?
ps: unfortunately animated GIfs don't support sound...unless I'm wrong.
no, they don't (thank god...)
You'd have to embed a sound in your forum signature. Luckily, html code is disabled.
Since a forum goer
hits xx number of posts, my title has been 'addict'.
I am against the rather negative, drug-user connotation that this portrays and am in favour of having the title changed to something a little more hoitey toitey.
Does anyone have better ideas for user titles?
I know spiff brought this up recently (although just for a reorganization of the titles) and Amie brought this up quite some time ago as there are 2 'addict' lisitings on the chart anyway. Maybe the idea should be revisited again.
Suggestions for a list of names?
We can start a poll if we get enough then barrage Amie with emails in protest.
Ok, maybe not barrage, but we could PM her en masse.
Nah, that might bring down the Axiom server. Well we could...ah, someone else come up with an idea here.
From the list of the following, i say Axiom should lose the first addict title altogether and change the last addict to something more appropriate.
0 newbie
5 regular
10 frequent flier
20 hobbiest
30 enthusiast
40 addict
(LOSE THIS CATEGORY ENTIRELY)
60 old hand
100 veteran
200 local
(LOSE THIS ONE TOO)
300 addict
(CHANGE TO SOMETHING ELSE...how about Afficionado? or even Audiophile? or maybe Axiomophile?)
Quick poll:
Gee i hope that poll naming wasn't too biased.
politically correct is for.. well i wont even say it.
maybe we should change it to loser or obsessed or axiomupallnight. lol
Would it be easier to just get rid of the titles and show the actual number of posts?
On this same topic...isn't it correctly spelled: HOBBYIST ?
This is a hobby that all of us enjoy...and derive pleasure from participating in....
My .02,
WhatFurrer
I voted yes, and I still maintain that the 'hobbiest' title should be corrected.
Yes, chess, but "audiophile" has an even worse connotation than "addict".
I voted no, simply on the silliness of your statement about the word addict. Come on, man...
I mean, come on... d--ddude, p-ppost some mmmore, man, I gotta score some posts here! C' c'mon, man.... I need m-my fix..
