I love punk, but pretty much any one of the Ramones would qualify (actually just about anyone in the whole genre could be considered).

except for AFI's lead singer. depending on the camera angle he looks like a girl. kind of.

Sid...would you please help that poor turtle up? He's been stuck on his back for a long time now!

Posted By: pmbuko Re: Poll - 01/05/04 08:03 PM
totally. Lyle Lovett. Hands down. No contest.
Posted By: sidvicious02 Re: Poll - 01/05/04 08:03 PM
Craig, he looks kind of like I did at 4:00 in the morning on New Year's day!
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Poll - 01/05/04 08:05 PM
he should try rolling sideways, that silly turtle. Reminds be of the cartoons where a character is trying to outrun a boulder/snowball/large rapidly approaching object when they should just step sideways.

Definitely Lyle Lovett, with Thom Yorke running a close second.

The lead singer of Nickleback is ugly.

"The lead singer of Nickleback is ugly."

Yeah, and he doesn't sound that good either.

Why the long face Celine?

I've been waiting for someone to name the clear winner of this "competition", but it appears it is up to me. Shane MacGowan of the Pogues. Thank you, 'night all.

You win.

Awwww... now don't knock on Shane!

Actually... you may be right on this one. That photo is actually a good one, too. Have you seen the recent documentary, "If I Should Fall From Grace" ? Pretty crazy stuff.

Here's some more recent pics of my favorite singer in action:

Actually I think Shane is one of the great ones. I don't know how he is still alive, and if he is still drinking I fear he won't be much longer. I can't think of a more self destructive artist, and you can hear every bit of it in his voice.
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Poll - 01/13/04 08:20 PM
But wait! This contest was for the ugliest, but BEST SOUNDING singer. He couldn't possibly win if you can hear his self-destructive habits in his voice.
Posted By: tinfoilhat Re: Poll - 01/13/04 09:09 PM
He truly is a great singer. Very powerful and expressive. A few years ago he teamed up with Sinead O'Connor in a duet called "Haunted" that was a fairly decent hit in England. It is his voice you remember. If only you could forget his face.

I don't know if you subscribe to Netflix or not... but they carry the documentary (which is very recent, and the best rock documentary I've ever seen)...

Great watch, some bits of video. Some REALLY classic bits of him singing with then girlfriend Sinead O'Connor. An entertaining, if somewhat slightly depressing movie.

So yes, he is definitely alive. I actually saw him in concert last year... one of the best moments was the last song (he was staggering considerably, but so was I) which was "The Angel of Death" by Hank Williams, which he said he should sing, since he was in Texas, after all

cheers!
