Sorry about the off topic, but I have no where else to vent my pain...
Maaan!! Went to the gym today and bit off a little more than I could chew because it was my last day before a week of not using the suppliment Creatine (because I cycle it so that my body doesn't stop making it), and I wanted to go hard-core. BAD MOVE!
Class 1 Tear on left bicep. Nothing major, but the pain is SOOO bad, and sharp. It's the second time it has happened to me... You would think that I would learn to not use 60's on the free weights for curls...
[PAIN!]
Wrap it with a couple of cold QS8s and you should be fine in the morning.
Hehe, care to donate some to the fix-DJ_Stunna's-arm fund?
I know your pain I lift too.
In training for anything in particular or just like to lift?
I do it just for the fun (or well in this case, the pain) of it - heh.
I too am in it for the fun? now. Got hooked playing football. I am not as focused as I used to be. Find getting older keeps getting in the way. A few too many long recovery times from some minor injuries, ie. severe case of tennis elbow for 2 years!, and have lost a lot of endurance and strength. I now know why pro athletes only survive into their mid to late 30's. Hope your recovery goes well.
I'd try a couple of these
wrist bands along with a good healthy dose of salt. Rub the affected area with some prop wash prior to wearing the wristband
Haha - will that give me more inner-resolution as well?
My little brother used Creatine and other supplements for a many years. Took a near fatal case of strangely complicated appendicitis for him to re-evaluate all the unknown, untested substances he was putting into his body.
Good luck w/ the strain. Could have been worse.
Did you use 60 pound dumbells on each arm?
Yea that was 60 per arm - I usually only go up to 50 or 55 on each arm, though.
My arms routine starts with 30's (2 sets of 15 reps), then I move on to 40's (2 sets of 12 reps), then I go to 45 (1 set of 10 reps), then 50 (2 sets of 10 reps), then 55, if I'm not tired (1 set of 10 reps). This time I had some juice still in me after the 55, so I tried 60s again, but it didn't go so well. Anyways, my arm feels almost perfect now, so I'm happy that I recovered so quickly, but this time I surely won't do 60s again - heh.
Sounds like an ordeal! The worst that's ever happened to me is that damn tighness in your tendons that won't let you straighten your arms out all the way that you get after you try to jump right back in where you left off from after not doing curls for a really long time.
(how's that for a long sentence!)
Heh, I get that all the time, but in my pecs. What i mean is that after bench and other chest work, I can't even remotely make my elbows touch eachother. Right now I can kind of do it, but it just takes a lot of effort. After I work pecs, however, I'm lucky to get them past straight in front of me.
Ha! Same here. How about lifting your arms to shampoo your hair the next morning? Pure torture, I tell you.
I can't stand going to bed dirty, so I take at least two showers a day (one in the morning when I get up and one after I lift). Now, THAT is torture, considering that I only have about 20 minutes from when I finish lifting to when I have to raise my arms to shower and shampoo - heh.
On the other hand, the warm water feels GREAT --- VERY SOOTHING!
Waiting to shower until the next day is not what I meant. I meant the pain is worse the morning after. I usually work out after work.
Ahh - I get ya - heh. I am usually not that sore the next day for some reason. I guess that means I should go harder ;p (but not so hard so that I strain / tear my biceps again - heh.)
The soreness I'm talking about is the kind that happens after a long, errr... too long, break from lifting. I'm usually not sore the next day anymore, either.
In fact, the only reason I actually work out now is because my LDL cholesterol was over 200 last time I got tested (about 9 months ago). If my cholesterol weren't an issue -- sad but true -- I'd still have that nice layer of ... extra insulation.
In reply to:

That's a good way of looking at it - heh. I wish I was a 'glass half full' type of guy.
Anyways, I have to go finish moving from apartment to apartment - heh. I hate moving at 1:16 AM, but I'm too lazy to do it at any other time. Goodnight Axiom - heh.
bend those knees!
