Just to let anyone know who is intrested in after market spikes for their M60 or 80's.I bought some for my M80's to make them more stable. With the stock spikes I could never get them firmly planted to the floor. With the new ones they are really stable no more wobble. They also look real nice. The spikes are 1 1/2" tall and 1 1/4" in diameter on top.The site is www.kalapanadesigns.com.Sorry I dont know how to make a link.
Really nice looking, and reasonably priced. What thread size did you get, and how did you know which thread size to get?
The M80 takes 1/4x20. I talked to someone at Axiom that told me the correct size. The whole set of 8 was only 47.60 usd with free shipping. There is no charge for shipping in the US and Canada. It took some time to find these, some of the spikes I found were alot more expensive.
Also the person at Axiom said to put the site for the spikes on the board.
Thanks. I wonder if the M60s take the same size.
I've got the site bookmarked. Glad you posted it.
I wonder if the (ahem...) M50s and M40s are the same size.
you can also get them here:
http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl.cfm?&DID=7&Partnumber=240-716
For 20 bucks a set of 4. Not sure about the threading though... They also come in different colors.
True, but at 4 times the cost.
The spikes from Parts Express are metric they will not work.I first called Parts Express to see what size the threads were.At $20.00 a set plus shipping they are no cheaper than the Kalapana's.You would think Axiom would use the same size for all the floorstanding speakers.
Hey Win,
Thanks for the link. And, why do Axiom want you to pull the link? It looks like the spikes are in 2 main pieces - will this allow you to take the actual spike off for hardwood floors as well? Is that what those spacer-looking pieces are for? I do like the look of those.
Axiom does'nt want to pull the link they said I could put the web address on here. Those spacer looking things are to go between a hardwood floor and the spikes as to not damage the floor.I really like mine. The spikes are a two piece job so they can be ajusted to level out the speakers if need be.
Apologies Brandon. I ask your forgiveness. I thought the Parts Express spikes were $25 per spike. I just didn't see the "4 piece set" thingy in the small print. Mea culpa.
Ah, coolio. That's exactly what I was looking for as well. I think I'll look into those. A nice accent to the pieces, I'd think.
