Nice - I like the trim in the bedroom - no shots of you, though I notice....or of the beauties (axioms), though I think I caught a glimpse of them in their boxes...
You'll have to update the site with soem finished pics of the hardwood and the home theater soon.
Really liked the bedroom with dark beams and white ceiling. And doing the door trim in the same color as the beams was inspired. I know, in many ways, it's been a giant PITA, but some parts are really fun, aren't they? Enjoy!
It is shaping up nicely, but I'm not sure I'd call it fun. Well...changing the door knobs was fun, because it was easy and made a big difference in looks with little fuss, and expense.
We can't go back in until Saturday, as the floors are being done now. I'll be setting up the living room with my HT gear, on Sunday, so there'll be lots more pictures.
now you need to get on one of those TV, remodel your house type shows, and see what they can do with it. they usually do an awesome job, and its almost all FREE.
Yeah - I mean a $1000 budget might get you an estimate, and not much more, to redo a room.
Because they use such crap materials, the life of the "improvements" has to be short lived...Also, I bet the quality looks very different in person than it does on camera. Things like texture and "weight" really don't show up on the screen.
thats very true.. some do a good job, some do a bad job. i dont know if thats a risk i would want to take.. BUT, its craigs house, not mine.. so, go ahead and do it.
i saw one show where the lady glued hay to the walls.. i kid you not, HAY.. like what horses eat..i swear, if i could, i would have shot her right thru the TV.
those shows bug me because it never fails that someone says something like "you can change pretty much anything, except whatever you do, DON'T paint the room brown!" And sure enough, before the "designer" even says it, you already know they are going to paint the room completely brown!
Now the episode of trading spaces where they had $100,000 was pretty darn cool, especially with all the free donated electronics equipment.
And my wife watches that Extreme Home Makeovers, or something like that with that Ty guy...that is pretty cool and they do some amazing work on some of those places.
I'll try to post an update on Monday. The floors are done (and look great!), the walls and ceiling are patched and painted, and I've been working today to get my StudioTech cabinet put together and get all my gear in it and wired up. I also hope to finish making my speaker cables this weekend. I've nearly finished, and then my hair drier blow out on me, so I've got one end of heat shrink that needs some heat, and then I'm done. They turned out quite nicely! I'll post pics of them in another thread.
I love newly refinished h/w floors. The most painful thing is the first time you drop something on it...or someone walks in the house w/ a rock stuck in their shoe...
