to add another concert DVD to our ongoing list.

Pat Metheny: Speaking of Now Live

I picked this one up last weekend at Best Buy and WOW!!! is it good. There's a 5.1 DTS mix and a 4.1 DD mix. So far I've watched the entire concert (clocking in at over 2 hours) once, but I was flipping through some favorites today. I must say that this is one of the most unique and inspiring (for a musician) concerts I've seen in a long time. Everything about it, from the video work to the musicians just screams TOP NOTCH!!! Being a dummer, oops that's dRummer, I must say that Antonio Sanchez cannot be human. Similar to Terry Bozzio, he's constantly doing four part patterns that make me sit and say "What's he doing?" *scratches head* Truly amazing.

Overall, there's a jazz taste to most of the songs, but there's several surprises. Especially Pat's "crazy" guitar. That's all I'll say about it in case any of you guys see it. There's even some hard rock on "The Roots of Coincidence". For any of you guys that enjoy jazz on the experimental side, make sure you check out this concert.

Thanks, I'll have to check it out.
I just picked up Rush In Rio and I found it to be a kick ass show. Neil Peart is back and the band seems to have their chemistry again. La Villa Strangiato has a special twist and By-Tor and the Snow Dog piece just rocked.
The whole show was a mental vacation. Loved it! It sounds great, it's only in Dolby D thought.
Of course it helps if your a fan

Spock,

Appreciate the heads up on the Pat Metheny dvd. Huge fan of his, if you ever get the chance you'll definitely want to go to one of his shows (you probably surmised as much from experiencing the dvd).

No prob' I'll now have to watch to see where he's touring. I would love to see him live. I also have the DVD in which he performs with Dave Holland, Herbie Handcock, and Jack Dejohnette and it's a good one too. I must say that Herbie is "the man" on that one. He turns the piano into a percussion instrument.
