Is there a FAQ devoted to uploading photos for a person's profile? I couldn't find one....
Posted By: bigjohn Re: Uploading "profile" photos... - 10/13/04 06:39 PM
this is the most informative part of the FAQ..

as far as a personal avater(like under peoples names).. you just need to find what you want(usually in a www. form). then go to your profile, click edit info, then cut and paste the url in the 'your picture' line.. thats it..

if you need to get a picture of yourself posted with a url.. go to photobucket.com, open an account(its free), upload a pic of yourself, then use the provided url or tag line and cut and paste it into the 'your picture' section.

hope that helps.

Mark, If you're talking about an avatar (like my phonograph), or a photo in your signature (like my Browns helmet), John is correct that you need a web host. Go to Photobucket, sign up, and upload your photo(s) to your album. Once uploaded to Photobucket, copy the URL of the photo to your clipboard.

Then, you need to click on "My Home" in the horizontal menu near the top of each forum page, scroll down and click on "Personal information, email, password, etc.," then scroll down to either "Signature," and/or "Your photo." Follow the instructions for posting an image, at the link John posted.

To wit:

Type [image] then paste the URL to your photo directly after that, then type [/image]. Leave no spaces between any character or letter.

I am not able to get this to work. I put photo in photobucket. Copied URL assigned by photobucket to signature. No picture shows up. What am I doing wrong?

You have too much junk on the end of the URL (ie the web address of the picture). Use the following instead :

Son of a gun, there you are! Problem is, this photo is much too large to use as an avatar. I've cropped and shrunk it to the correct size (65 pixels wide by 75 pixels high) This should work.

What you need to do is right click the smaller photo above, click on "Save picture as," and save it somewhere on your computer. Then you can upload it to Photobucket, and then use it as your avatar.

A bit of sharpening usually helps after reducing photo size. Copy and upload this version if you like it better:

Thanks Denver. Picture is much clearer. Thanks for all the tips guys. I really appreciate. I will upload some pictures of my HT soon. Just wanted to show off the wife and daughter first.

Thanks BigJohn.

That photo is from our annual Spring Break in Florida. We lay around in the sun all day, the guys drink, the women gossip. Then we all go out to dinner every evening. We spend every day with our friends and their 4 kids. Actually there is about 100 people on our stretch of beach from our hometown. The guys walk up and down the boardwalk everyday stopping in and having a drink with friends. It is actually alot of fun.

Absolutely not, unless you're planning to use all of the pictures as avatars and put up a different one every day

Strictly speaking you don't even have to reduce the picture size for an avatar (the site will scale it down for you) but works much better if you do use a pre-shrunk pic as everyone suggested.

It takes a little playing around with, but you'll get it.

Mark, as attractive a man as you appear to be, I believe many of us would be much happier if you would include pictures of your wife and daughter (as shown above) rather than your alter ego - "YA FREAK". Also, it appears that your daughter spent much more time swimming in your wife's end of the gene pool, and this is a good thing.

On a serious note, you will need to budget your time on a go-forward basis because much more of it will be spent listening to CDs (your entire collection will be brand new now that you have Axioms) and watching DVDs. This is also a good thing. Enjoy it!!!

Ray3,

Actually that is my wife and daughter in the photo's on the first page. And I am the tall bald guy in the picture. Actually I think my daughter has more of my genes than her mothers. Ha! Ha!

Ummmm, I don't have a daughter.

I have a dog, though, and I considered putting HIS photo up. I know someone else has what looks to be a Black Lab, though, and I don't want to make anyone jealous with how handsome my dog is....

Posted By: pmbuko Re: Uploading "profile" photos... - 10/14/04 09:37 PM
Nobody's asking, but I think my dog's cuter:

Cute, yes.

But regally, royally handsome? That's "Gus" territory!

That is the meanest looking dog I've ever seen in my life.
How can you sleep with such a beast in the house?
Posted By: bigjohn Re: Uploading "profile" photos... - 10/15/04 04:14 PM
i take it ZUZU is a blue heeler mix?

my buddy had a blue heeler/lab mix named 'chase', and that was the smartest dog ever. he could open doors, knew over 30 commands, and could fetch like no dog i have ever seen. my buddy used to knock golf balls 100 yards, in foot tall grass, and chase would bring the golf ball back. it was simply amazing.

Yes Bray it's extremely difficult to Sleep with Sasha around, she is always on the prowl for treats and likes to sleep sideways across the bed. I wake up in the morning clinging to the edge of the mattress.
Posted By: ScottA Re: Uploading "profile" photos... - 10/15/04 04:31 PM
Wow!

I post pictures of my beautiful wife and daughter and everyone else is posting pictures of their dogs. Wait till I tell my wife her picture was in the same thread with pictures of dogs. I hope she does not think there is a connection. Ha! Or I will be in the "doghouse".

Lorenzo
You sleep with such a vicious looking animal?
Actually every time I look at Sashas pic I smile. Extremely cute dog!

Bigjohn
Zuzu is full blooded heeler and is way to smart, just not very obediant .....yet. She is just now 8 months old and starting to realize who is actually boss.
She is my second heeler (first one got hit by a car 8 months ago) and I cant believe how much difference there is in their personalitys. "Sally" was suspicios of everyone (which wasnt all bad), and hated children, and also very quiet.
Zuzu loves everyone and is continually "talking" to me (usually starting at 6 A.M).

If I had a wife and kids, trust me, I'd be posting pics of them.
From looking at the pics, I would say your a very lucky man.

Mark and Scott, I apologize for the mix up with your families (or not) and should point out that you are BOTH attractive guys, although being bald moves someone up a notch with me. [mile].

My gaffe was the result of skimming rather than absorbing. I don't get to spend as much time on the board as I'd like and it requires a better investment in time. They keep a pretty tight rein on me at the Home so they don't need to chase me down to wipe the drool from my chin.

Now that there are dogs involved in the thread, I just don't trust myself to try and untangle the confusion I created, so I'll let it go. ( I WAS going to say "I'll let sleeping dogs lie", but you are probably glad I didn't.)

At the end of the day, the important thing is that you are enjoying Axioms.
Posted By: ScottA Re: Uploading "profile" photos... - 10/15/04 08:44 PM
Ray3,

No apology needed. I was just jerking everyones chain a bit. I have a beautiful dog too. Yellow Lab named "Bear".
Daughter named him when she was 5. I just thought it was kind of humerous that I posted a picture of my wife and daughter and before you know it the thread was full of pictures of dogs.

By the way, thanks for the good looking comment. And I am enjoying my Axioms immensely.
