For you guys who have used the Denon auto room set-up. What do you think?
In my opinion it seems a little to bright, and not enough mids or bass.
Is it that I've trained my ears to want more mids and bass, or does the auto set-up just not perform well?
Whats you guys opinion?

Bray, I tried it a dozen times on my 3805 and I thought it sucked BIGTIME!!!!! Added way to much "Tin" to the fronts and backed off my surrounds way to much. I spent dam near a full day playing with it and not once did I like it.

After messing around with it more today, thats my opinion also.
I did like that it set the speaker distance "exactly" with the exception of the sub. I'm not sure if I like that it set my fronts to large. I'm going to listen to music today with them set that way (eq off) and then switch to small tomorrow and see what I think then.
I havent really played with it in surround that much yet. I'll start running tests on that next week, and see what I think.
I wonder what kind of "sound model" they base their auto set-up on???
And why?

Some feedback on the auto setup feature of the newer receivers is lukewarm. Alan suggests they are somewhat lacking. The tried and true way to calibrate speakers is with an SPL meter (usually Radio Shack is mentioned here) and use of either the Avia or Sound & Vision disc. Money well spent and you wil use them more than once. I have a major "tweak twitch" and end up recalibrating every month or two.

I've used the MCACC on my Pio Elite 45TX and have been quite happy w/ the results. Works quite well w/ my DVDA and SACDs, regardless of the fact that I can only find 5 titles I like...
