The first official run of the new EP500s and 600s was yesterday. A few photos as Tom, Steve and Ian prepared to let their babies go that I thought might interest the local gang here:

Tom insists on supervising every step.

Cass prepares the first test . . .

The 500s get their turn . . .

John puts a 500 through its paces . . .

The first palette off the line of the new Epicenter EP500.

My lower lip is quivering with sadness, as I cannot afford to buy one. (...yet)

Thanks for the pics Amie!

^%$^&*!!!!!!!! Amie !
Your not helping my "upgradeitis" condition at all!
Lookit all those beautiful babies in all the different colors lined up like a multi-ethnic task force to bring me (us) wonderful, beautiful, heart thumping, room shakeing, BASS.
Someone call 911, I need a doctor, or at least someone to hide my credit cards.

The 500 box looks enormous!

Don't look...can't afford...

Any chance we can get a nice close up shot of that back panel? It looks beautiful. I want to see what all those wonderful knobs do.

Thanks for the pics Amie

One of these days within the next year one of those EP600's is going to be coming this way. At least thats what i think
Posted By: Ajax Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/28/04 05:49 PM
Weeping uncontrollably! I want a 600, but I'd have to move all the furniture out of my room to accommodate it. My wallet is happy about that, though.
Posted By: Ken.C Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/28/04 09:01 PM
That's funny, I looked at those pics and thought... "Hey, that 600 doesn't look THAT big..." and my wife prefers the form factor of the 600. Pity I don't have that kind of cash.
Posted By: bridgman Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 01:38 AM
I didn't realize the new EPs had that "slanted side" ASW design. Very nice.
Posted By: CosmicVoyager Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 01:53 AM
They look almost as big as Cass. I want two
My wife is going to kill me.
Posted By: Daphoid Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 03:40 AM
*drools for a moment.... come on...... I can fight this.......ok....let's concentrate........*

*daphoid looks over sternly into the corner of his room. He focuses on the big black box... a 900W built in amplifier, dual 12" drivers... reachs down to 16 hz at stock tuning.... weighs 140 lb's.....fear me....*

ok I'm good.

Yes, the previous pictures and such made them seem MUCH bigger....almost ridiculous in size.
But these pictures lend the feeling of being acceptable in nature.
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 02:07 PM
I really wish I had a room that was worthy of such beasts. Alas, methinks they would crumble my humble abode....
Posted By: Amie Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 05:00 PM
Yes, the EP600 is ASW and that makes it look even better lying down . . . as I discovered yesterday when Ian brought our SECOND EP600 home. Oh, my, the crystal was nice while it lasted . . .

May I recommend a case ofMuseum Wax?

Oh, and be sure to call your local seismic monitoring station in advance of firing up both those subs.
Posted By: real80sman Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 08:04 PM
I like the Museum wax picture - from the 80's - nice hair!

Speaking of nice hair (Click on Classifications)
Posted By: CosmicVoyager Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 08:18 PM
Very nice!
The shirt is distracting however.

Oops, I thought you meant the babe on the main page

My mind is in the gutter today....
Posted By: bray Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 08:37 PM
In 85-86 I had the "porn mullet" down. God, I miss the 80s......NOT!
Posted By: rcvecc Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/29/04 09:49 PM
after years of long hair,i cut a little over 20 inches of hair off my head about 2 months ago-my kids had a hard time with it at first,my son even cried.im tring to save money on shampoo so i could try a couple of those ep600s
Posted By: Daphoid Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/30/04 03:37 AM
Ok I saw that "CD Leaning on the subwoofer" picture posted in the "EP500 Thread" and I couldn't resist posting the one I took when my subwoofer first got here

Ooh, double post from a veteran AND a large picture! Bogus!
Posted By: NeverHappy Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/30/04 05:10 AM
lol!...........and compared to my PC-Ultra, Daphoids is just a baby sub! .................at least when it comes to height!
Posted By: Daphoid Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/31/04 05:38 AM
PC Ultra? you meanie!

s'Okay I saw the guy with two B4-Plus's...he makes me cry at night alone in my bed.

- D
Posted By: NeverHappy Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/31/04 06:53 AM
No kidding. I saw some article about some guy's system and he was running 2 PB12-Plus / 4.............9 feet apart from each other. True story...........the guy was reporting drywall cracks on the wall beind the 2 subs. I just don't know if I could ever spend almost $9000.00 on 2 subs, amps etc!!!!!

Can you imagine running to SS's? That would be something else. My PC-Ultra can shake all 1500sqf of my house now. 2 of those SS's would break stuff for sure!
Posted By: CosmicVoyager Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/31/04 12:34 PM
My friend here in Colorado just picked up the same sub you have.
Oh, it's nice. I was impressed with it to say the least.

Posted By: NeverHappy Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/31/04 05:47 PM
He got the PC-Ultra?
Posted By: CosmicVoyager Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/31/04 06:13 PM
He picked up pb12-plus.
Posted By: NeverHappy Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 10/31/04 06:15 PM
Got ya!
Posted By: Lexxen Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/02/04 03:15 AM
Neverhappy -- is it you or your wife that could not spend $9000 on two subs/amps? :-)

(not harm intended, it just seems that you comment on being "in the doghouse" so often )
Posted By: NeverHappy Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 12:29 AM
It's the Wife hands down. If money was no object I would be all over running 2 very very good subs!
Posted By: Ray3 Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 12:33 AM
Just thinking out loud here. If you were judicious with your negotiations, you might be able to cover the entire $9K and have enough left over for dry wall tape or spackle if you sold the wife. Sometimes the most obvious solutions can resolve multiple issues.
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 01:06 AM
Lots of people advocate selling the wife, but the market just doesn't exist.
Posted By: Ray3 Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 01:41 AM
You are probably right Pete. If you have/had one, why would you want another one?
Posted By: player8 Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 03:47 AM
Ray,

After that last post I'm almost in tears. I'm not even married (still in college) and I think that is hilarious! Keep them coming...
Posted By: CosmicVoyager Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 04:57 AM
Actually the trick is to have the wife sell you.(less guilt and maybe she will sell me to some hotty ) Just grab the Axioms and go.
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 06:54 AM
God, this is so wrong. I love it.

Do ya ever wonder what Amie REALLY thinks when she reads this stuff every day?

You know, I was thinking just the other day that Axiom must be a nice place to work/own. My understanding is that employees get Fridays off, and the management MUST love producing a product that makes people so happy!

I mean, us users get absolutely giddy when we purchase the product and hear that it's shipped.... then rant and rave after how much we like it and convince others to buy it too.

Of course, I'm only looking at a couple of aspects of the big picture, but there must be a little sense that the users are a little like family?

Then again, we weren't invited for Thanksgiving!

they also get 2 hour lunches, there is free supply of speaker cable and interconnectors in the break room, and the first monday of each month is "mandatory margarita monday".. salt and lime not included.

Figures. I knew it was too good to be true. The "MAN" always has to keep the little guy down!
Posted By: CosmicVoyager Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 05:43 PM
To be honest what REALLY scares me is if my wife saw this.
Posted By: sidvicious02 Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 07:45 PM
actually Mark they're Canadian....all Canadians get Fridays off. ..........well, except for bar/pub staff.
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 10:18 PM
That's it then.

Now that my Axioms are purchased and I don't hav to pay that tax everyone complains about, AND since Bush won, I'm moving to Canada.

Anyone got room on their couch for a guy who travels with his own Axioms? (I won't borrow yours!)
Posted By: pmbuko Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/04/04 10:35 PM
Don't joke about that unless you mean it.
Posted By: Zarak Re: Empty Nest Syndrome - 11/05/04 12:28 AM
You could be the Canadian travelling salesman. Bringing your axioms to interested people so that they can hear them in their own home before buying them! They just have to give you a place to stay for a week in return.
