Well, I had an Acura Legend LS coupe with a 6 speed manual transmission, and a Honda S2000, also with a 6 speed manual transmission - hence the user name, "2x6spds." Uh oh, I sort of lost my mind this evening and drove home in a new Acura RL with a 5 speed automatic transmission. No more 2 6 speeds.

All this time I thought your username referred to your use of tube amps. Apart from the obvious, whats your new name going to be? 2x5 doesn't sound so slick? eh?

Worse than that - it'd have to be 1x6spd+1x5spd or 2x5.5spds, just doesn't feel right.

2x4 has a certain fiber to it.

AAAAHHHH. You sold a car with a manual 6 speed for one with an automatic 5 speed? I hope it has at least got a "sportshift" function? steering wheel shift paddles?

sounds like a former friend of mine who finally got his own garage for his auto repair business. after several years he sold the first place and graduated to a shop with two bays. instantly he was called twobay. yup you guessed it. sold that place and got a 4 door garage. we didn't call him 4bay, we called him multibay. i can't remember his real name.

Good choice for your second vehicle, 2x6. I was wondering why you felt compelled to have a sedan with a manual tranny when you also have that little Honda for serious driving.

On the name change... maybe chesseroo can suggest something?

Hmmm...and I was wondering why you would switch from a 6sp manual (or any manual) to an automatic. I would never want to give up stick. It is so much more enjoyable to drive then auto, IMHO. Auto is for people who only drive to get from point A to point B, and not for the fun on it.

Yes, 2x4 does have a certain fiber to it! Thank you Big Will, the new one is sort of grown up. OK, here it is

Nice. So how's it drive?

Thank you. I only have about 25 miles on it, I won't push it until it hits 1000 for old time's sake, but I can share a few observations for those interested in cars. The new RL is Acura's (Honda's) big dawg. It has a 300 HP 3.5 liter V6, and an advanced All Wheel Drive system which distributes torque front and rear as well as side to side to enhance handling, hence Honda's modest designation, Super Handling All Wheel Drive. Tip-in is very strong, the interior is swathed in highly aromatic and extremely soft leather. The Navigation system is great. There's a girl in the dash board who talks and I can talk back. I push a button on the steering wheel and say, "Temperature 68 degrees" and she says "temperature 68 degrees" and I see the indicator change to 68 degrees. I say, "Find a restaurant," and she asks "what kind?" The ride is an uncanny combination of taut and supple. I pushed the demo car on a test drive (not mine) and can report the handling is superb. I took the "S" curves on Placentia behind Los Lagos Golf Course, not so hard as to make the sales guys scream like little girls (there are gender differences you know), but with vigor, and the car took a neat set and carved the curves with precision and hardly any body roll. The engine is very strong.

The sound system is a 5.1 Bose DVD Audio, it sounds very good, though the mids are a bit recessed. It has advanced blue tooth and noise cancellation - senses ambient sound and generates out of phase sound from the speakers - result is a spooky silence. I find myself driving like a chauffeur, because of break-in caution, the automatic transmission and tomb like silence in the cabin. I say, "temperature 72 degrees" and I sense a waft of warm air redolent with leather.

The 6 speed Legend coupe was a more aggressive car - putting out about 255 HP at the crankshaft, short throws, beautiful clutch engagement, and a song like intake honk with the after market cold air induction system.
Gotta say goodbye to one of the greatest cars I've ever driven. 1993 Acura Legend LS 6 speed coupe.

You know, it's not really safe to do that while driving...

Nice ride 2x6.
Are you talking about the big S curves on Placentia Ave between Imperial and Bastanchury? That quickly became part of my "race track" when they put that road in. Used to do about 100 through there on my bike - nicely banked, smooth as butter, good sight lines,... too many houses there now though.
The roads to Lake Matthews in Corona/Riverside is fun, but a little bumpy. The road to Silverwood Lake off the 15 (I forget the name of the exit, but it's the exit right before the grade steepens) is smooth, tight and twisty. Go past the lake and you'll find an awesome road up the back of the mountain to Crestline/Lake Gregory.
