Since I am still finishing my basement, my Axioms are usually tucked away in our home office and only come out and get used about once a month.

Well, tonight was that night, and we watched I, Robot...

So, what stinks??? It stinks that I now have to put them away back in the office (no room in our living room for them to be put there for an extended period of time)...

It could be worse. I went to a home show tonight where they were advertising that they had this cool "what you can do with your basement" section. It included a "$30,000" home theater. I was excited to see it.

It was worse. This great $30,000 home theater had a small front projection screen (about 60" 16:9), and BOSE speakers... Yeah, those little cube things. What a waste of time. Not sure where the $30,000 came from. I didn't look too closely at the projector, maybe it was an expensive one. Of course, they probably took list prices for everything.

So I guess it could be worse. I could have Bose speakers.
Still stinks though....

Nick,

I do not envy your once-a-month Axiom situation, but you are right to put it in perspective. You could have an every day Bose situation.

Hey Nick, I was at the home show last night also, probably passed you up and didn't even know it Anyway, the 30,000 HT they keep showing on the commercial, is not the same thing I found at the show. I don't know if it was hiding somewhere we didn't go, but all I saw was the following:
1) some guy selling a BOSE system in a dark booth about 6' x 6' and it was cranked so loud all I heard was distortion.
2) some guy selling inwall HT setups with Integra components, not to bad, but I'm not a in-wall fan.
3) There was an indoor house with a bunch of stuff from the Rec Room Plus, and one room was the home theatre. It was ok, but nothing special. It had 2 elevated rows of reclining chairs, a darkened room with a front projector on the ceiling in front of the rows. The projected image was not the big, but they did have black walls and black curtains and ceilings.

I'm not sure where that 30,000 system was located.

Yes, the RecRoom deal was the $30,000 home theater. The screen was about 5 feet wide, so that put it at about a 70" diagonal. With the first row about 12 feet back, it was pretty small. Plus the screen was 16:9 and the movie (Seabiscuit) was in 2.35:1 so with the bars on the top and bottom, the image was even smaller.

Of course, The RecRoom is way overpriced anyway. So who knows how they got to the $30,000 number.
