Does anyone else find it odd that most DirectTV recievers dont have digital audio connections. I know the Tivo recievers have it and some but not many of the old recievers have it. Why?
I called DirectTV to find out which ones had it and it took almost 30 minutes for them to find 1. You would think since so many of the Pay per view movies and others are broadcast in DD they would have this feature on all their recievers.
When I asked if they could send me one, I was told NO they couldnt guarantee what kind of reciever I would get. I found this very odd, especially since their customer service is usually pretty good.
Anyway I found one on ebay that I got for $13.00 and will be hooking it up this weekend. It is a hughs hird e-4. Anyone have it? If so how do you like it.

Is it sorta like the newer TVs that have an old fashioned coax input only, but a digital out to the AV receiver? So that it's expected that the signal will be going straight thru the Direct TV receiver to the TV, and that the audio then will be broken off in the TV set and then sent to the Av receiver via a dedicated digital audio output from the TV?

UH, maybe that's an apples and oranges sort of thing. Never mind.
