Anoyone have any expeience buying cd's online?

I'm in a smallish city, and finding music I want is sometimes difficult.

Are there any recommendations? Is amazon any good?

Also, I'm in Canada. Thanks for any replies.

I buy most of my music from Amazon.ca. You have to do a reality check on prices because some of their stuff is way overpriced but in general they are not bad.

I live in Toronto so there are lots of alternatives... but amazon isn't bad.

Warren, I buy a lot of CDs online. A good source is Tower Records, especially when one of their sales is on. There's free shipping in the U.S., so shipping charges(flat $4.95 U.S. to Canada)would make this less attractive to Canada, although sale prices might make it worthwhile if at least a few items were ordered. I've used Amazon U.S., and Amazon Canada(including the used and new CDs offered through third-party sellers)might be your best bet.

amazon used CDs are good. This way, you're getting an original legally, but not giving money to the bastards who sue people for sharing music, whatever method it may be.

If you buy music online, I recommend you go for used CDs and not DRMed low bitrate AACs/MP3s/WMAs. Those prices should get you at least a lossless or higher bitrate copy, or a physical product that has some actual worth.

there's always itunes...

allofmp3.com

Pay for the bandwidth, not the number of songs... so you can choose what format/bitrate you want music in. Being that its in Russia I know the RIAA isn't happy about em, but that makes me smile.

mp3search.ru .....................another Russian site if I'm not mistaken.

They transcode their stuff, so lossless isn't really lossless there.

I've used (no pun intended) Amazon's used CD section for my last 4 online purchases. All were as advertised -- like new or new.

Amazon marketplace is a good place to buy used CDs, along with Half.com.

For my type of music (metal) I choose theendrecords.com and sentinelsteel.com. Excellent service, super fast shipping and very good prices. SentinelSteel has a lot of used CDs as well.

Try www.secondspin.com for a huge amount of used CDs at great prices.
