They don't make shows like they used to for kids. Gilligans Island was one I used to watch as soon as I got home from elementary school back in the 70's.

Gilligan Dies at 70

I know he will be remembered as Gilligan. But, first saw him as Maynard G. Krebs in The Many Lives of Dobie Gilles. He was much hipper and even more funny. I'll miss him

He was a classic, for sure. It is funny how the actors/actresses never age in our minds.

Little Joe Cartwright comes to mind, too.

RIP Gilligan, and thanks for being part of my childhood...

I remember him first as Maynard too. thopught he was funnier in that role to. He does stand in my mind as always young, though it has been a looong time since I saw him in anything. Visited the area in Hawaii where they filmed Giligan's Island by chance not too long ago though. RIP

I remember him as Maynard also, can't remember when that show aired, I'm sure it was reruns on cable

Oh Yeah!!....Dobie Gillis!! Thanx for the memory, Jack

I first remember Dwaine Hickman as Bob Cummings nephew on "Love that Bob" Remember the secretary/photographic assistant "Schultsie" who went on to be Alice on the "Brady Bunch"?

But yes, Maynard; or Gilligan, will be missed. I found him a more believable character on "Dobie", as well.

Oh Geeez, When Did Dobie air. 55, 56, 57, somewhere around there....I think

I really thought Tuesday Weld was sharp, so I must have been at least old enough to notice!

Man, that's a doggone shame...R.I.P. Mr Denver (AKA) Gilligan.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Thalia Menninger! Yummy! The Many Loves Of Dobie Gilles was on from 1959 to 1963.

Ah yes. The much beloved Ann B. Davis. She was hysterical as Schultzy.

GADZOOKS, I was already in the Navy when that show was cancelled! I didn't recall it being on that late!!

Posted By: F107plus5 Re: RIP Gilligan - 09/07/05 12:04 PM
OK....see what happened(thanks for the link)

The show was actually the show I remember for...Just ONE Year....acording to the cast listings.

BUMMER...and I thought it ran longer than that before they made the changes.

I knew that short term memory was prone to failure,but....

The man was 70 years old. That is my dad's age now. It's hard to look at him as a 70 year old..... A huge part of alot of our youth is dieing. How unfortunate for all of us.

Yup....70 does seem old.....long ways away at that.

Why, he was an old dude of nine when I was born

I only wish we could get our parents and other influential folks on re-runs

Sharp doesn't really tell the whole story. TW=goddess.

I also was surprised to read the sad news. Goodbye, little buddy. You know this means that the only two remaining cast members are the actresses who played Ginger and Mary Ann. I could go for some coconut cream pie right about now.

Actually, the "professor" Russell Johnson is alive as well.
