Ok, lets all admit it. The search function on these boards is... highly underwhelming. I was going to respond to a recent post about DVDs that have great bass with a comment like "use the search feature" -- but then I tried searching and came up empty after several attempts. Ok, so I was lazy, too and didn't page through enough results. In any case, I can totally understand why people post common subjects over and over. Searching from the search link is just too much work. To help make searching easier, I've summoned my Google skills and generated this Google search link:

Search Axiom Audio Boards

Clicking on the link will take you to a page that will only search the Axiom Message Boards. It's guaranteed to get you better results than the built-in search.

Fantastic! Thanks a lot.
Great idea Peter, certainly gives many more search options/criteria. I've noticed the same thing, it often takes a couple of tries to find what i'm looking for - and that's with something i know is there. My worry would be that others that don't know what they are looking for would give up before they found their answer.

I guess the search function was adequate "in the beginning", but with the variety/volume of posters, topics & posts it's become ineffective.

It certainly would be helpful if the webmaster could replace the existing Search with this one or at least upgrade the existing Search function.

Great! Saved that sucker.

HEY! Are you bucking for an Axiom programming job? Are you willing to move to the wilds of Canada? Do you like snow? Can you handle -30 degrees F. on a regular basis?

Thanks Peter. That will be helpful.

If the management is interested, this functionality can easily be added to the search page by pasting the following snippet of HTML code into the Search page:

<form method="get" action="http://www.google.com/custom" target="_self" class="copy">
<input type=text name=q size=32 maxlength=255 value="" style="width:200px;font-size:12px;">
<input type=submit name=sa VALUE="Google Search" class="button" style="font-size:12px;">
<input type=hidden name=cof VALUE="GIMP:white; T:black; ALC:blue; GFNT:#cccccc; LC:blue; BGC:white; AH:left; VLC:blue; GL:3; GALT:#999999;">
<input type=hidden name=domains value="axiomaudio.com">
<input type=hidden name=sitesearch value="www.axiomaudio.com/boards/">
</form>

Not sure if it will display correctly, but it's worth a shot.

Google makes it easy to add their search functions to your own site. Really -- to use your own phrase -- de nada!

Great stuff! I'm envious of the skill required to do these sort of things and at the same time I would hate the problems and trouble shooting associated with these types of skill sets.
or if you use the google toolbar (which i do) you can type your search and just select current site instead of web.

Thanks Peter,

One thing that I've always disliked is not being able to search just the titles of threads.

U DA Man...
Very nice, Peter. Thanks.

I agree. Sometimes searching the Axiom forum is frustrating at best.
The google search will be a few days behind.

This board is ANCIENT. Needs an update I think.
You don't actually have a real job, do you?

Diplomatic, aren't we?

I do, but I take brain breaks once in a while to tackle easier tasks like this.
This was a great idea Peter.
I read this awhile back, forgot to comment.

Good show laddie!
