I’m not sure if this has been noticed/discussed before. I was just checking out of curiosity what the post levels for each title were. I noticed that for 10,000 post its shareholder in the making. When they originally redid them wasn’t it just shareholder? Do you think axiom (or their legal dept) got nervous that someone would think they were entitled to part of the company if they hit that level? lol just struck me funny. Here is the list of the standard titles and # of posts to achieve them:

0 newbie
5 regular
10 frequent flier
20 hobbyist
30 enthusiast
40 buff
60 old hand
100 veteran
200 local
300 devotee
500 aficionado
1000 connoisseur
5000 axiomite
10000 shareholder in the making

Gotta be carefull making this kind of post!

Some folks, with fewer scruples than us, may take advantage of it to make frivolous posts to....

...move themselves to the next level.

However, we wouldn't do that....

....would we?

Hey! Cool

That put me past 1500! Thanks for the push; Jake!

...still a long way to go til the next level

If any one would pay attention to that number, Amie would be the most likely to know.
Posted By: Ken.C Re: Titles - 02/12/06 06:45 PM
I would bet that it was either Sushi or Peter. Probably during the time when Peter and I were obsessively posting to try and get ahead of one another.
Posted By: spiffnme Re: Titles - 02/12/06 06:50 PM
I remember the days when I was keeping up with you guys. *sigh*...alas, my 'real' job has gotten so much busier over the past year or so, I don't have nearly the time I did before to keep up with you.

Posted By: Ajax Re: Titles - 02/12/06 06:53 PM
And, though you haven't disappeared completely like BigJohn, or Morgel, or the legendary Sushi, like them, you ARE missed. Hey at 4183 posts, you're still way ahead of most of us.
Posted By: spiffnme Re: Titles - 02/12/06 07:03 PM
You're giving me the 'warm and fuzzies'

Nice to be missed. BigJohn needs to find a new job. What's more important? Paying your mortgage, or keeping up with the Axiom boards? Geesh. He really needs to get his priorities straight.

I may be slacking off, but I'm still around!

Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Titles - 02/12/06 07:21 PM
I used to post as "Anonymous" back in double ought and oh one, but lots of other folks kept using my name, so I quit, besides: once I got my M3s I didn't need to post much til it was time to upgrade a few years later!

(....that, and our youngest daughter was living with us for a couple years, and there was no way of getting our own computer from her; she was busy posting on HER favorite forums!)

Posted By: Ken.C Re: Titles - 02/12/06 09:21 PM
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that you're firmly at #3. I haven't been posting as much lately, so you've got a chance! For that matter, neither has Peter...

Anyway, come around as often as you can. It's good to hear from you.

6688 and slowing down = I used to have lots of spare time.
Posted By: SirClyde Re: Titles - 02/13/06 02:28 AM
Now it's time for you to take a vacation so you can get up to 10,000. You can do it.
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Titles - 02/13/06 03:21 AM
I figure, that at my age I'm not gonna make the next level by myself.

So I have it in my will that if my grandkids expect to get anything, they gotta get me to the next level "Before" I get placed in the ground.

...even if it means laptops clackin' away at my funeral!

I fully intend to be planted with an M3 along for the ride, and if the kids know what's good for them, there better be "Axiomite" stenceled across the front of my casket!

>>> I figure, that at my age I'm not gonna make the next level by myself. <<<

Hey Rich, God forbid whenever that day comes may I by any chance have your post count since you won't be needing them anymore? I can PM you all of the info to get them passed on (sorry, that didn't sound right) ... forwarded to me.

Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Titles - 02/13/06 03:38 AM
Ok Rick, it's a deal!!

Of course, since I'll have to bribe the kids to get my count up to 5K, there will need to be a contribution.

You can tape a check to the casket!

(.....think that'll fool 'em?)
Posted By: RickF Re: Titles - 02/13/06 03:53 AM
>>> You can tape a check to the casket! <<<

Deals?

OK, how about discounting that whole 'casket' idea and doing it right. I'll (for FREE, mind you) scatter your ashes anywhere you like, within a reasonable distance from the Melbourne airport ... and we'll even provide the baggie and a card. Even Steven. Deal?

Speaking of ashes and airplanes, true story...

Several years ago whenever one of the prominent farmers passed away in south Florida the family wanted his ashes scattered over his farm. I somehow got the job and flew the widow in the 182, we opened the window and out went the ashes ... except that we somehow forgot that the high outside pressure would want to get inside the airplane, bringing the ashes with it. I cleaned the man's ashes out of that airplane for several weeks after that.

So...you inhaled a dead guy eh? lol How did she react when this happened?
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Titles - 02/13/06 04:05 AM
Didn't they teach you about that air pressure stuff in "Flying 101" class.

Posted By: RickF Re: Titles - 02/13/06 04:10 AM
Michael actually it was kind of funny, the daughter was sitting in the front seat with me and she scattered the ashes, I just forgot to tell her to make sure her hand was all of the way outside the plane. The widow was in the back seat and got covered up with the ashes, whenever we got back on the ground she looked at us and said 'That man always was a messy person' The daughter just laughed, I didn't know what to say.
Posted By: Tharkun Re: Titles - 02/13/06 04:13 AM
You didn't ask for a cleaning fee I assume.
Posted By: richeydog Re: Titles - 02/13/06 04:15 AM
Good one, Dennis.

Thanks for the story, Rick. I'm still smiling after reading that one.
Posted By: MarkSJohnson Re: Titles - 02/13/06 04:19 AM
The guys' name wasn't "Arzt", was it?

That would explain Ashboomstick's SIG line, which I never understood (yet never Googled) : "Dude, you've got some Arzt on you."

Posted By: pmbuko Re: Titles - 02/13/06 04:21 AM
Reminds me of that scene from The Big Lebowski.

Nope!

I have several good stories, one of these days I'll tell y'all about the little 80 year old lady who always wanted an airplane ride because she never had been on a plane before and her kids set her up for a ride.

Let me just say that the thought of "Let go of that ^%@&!)% wheel Grandma!!" ran through my mind more than once during that little fiasco.
Posted By: F107plus5 Re: Titles - 02/13/06 04:29 AM
Oops, sorry Rick; I assumed that most "Everybody" had heard and remembered the joke about the "Donations" by the Priest, the Doctor and the Lawyer, to the dead dude.

The Priest and Doctor tossed cash into the casket, the Lawyer tossed in a check!!

Ouch,....I forget how it goes too!!

Flying ashes huh? Interesting concept, near Melbourne is cool, low by the St Johns whould scare the gators and keep the delta P under control! Not like Clyde Tombaugh goin' to Pluto and beyond, but still a satisfying thought!

Hey; speakin' of distances and old age, our pal, who happens to be "My age" made the trip ok!!

Gotta get me one of them Global Flyer patches to sew onto my "Williams" jacket!!
Posted By: JohnK Re: Titles - 02/13/06 05:23 AM
Yeah Jake, you're right, just "shareholder" was the original title. I doubt that it took legal advice for Amie to change it, however; just Ian's anguished screams when he read some of our comments at the time(as part owner of Harman International I'd have loved to have another financial interest in audio). Briefly mentioned again recently at the end of this thread .

Since the thread has turned to the afterlife . . . Recently someone wrote into Popular Science (my second time ever reading it, and now I'm quite certain it was my last) and one of their suggestions for a more 'environmentally friendly' thing to do with your remains has been freaking me out for days.
Posted By: FordPrefect Re: Titles - 02/14/06 11:03 PM
At first I thought it was a joke, but it seems to be 0.1% legit and 99.9% creepy.

I can't imagine the type of person who would want to do that.

I subscribe to PS....it expands my thought process. I didn't think that article was bad... at least not in comparison to the article on people who leave their bodies to an organization that leaves them in a large field so ME students can examine the various states of decay under real-world and real weather conditions....
Posted By: BrenR Re: Titles - 02/15/06 01:46 AM
Lis and I joke about the Life Gem thing all the time.

We're both big on the cremation thing (in Winnipeg, seems all the cemeteries are riverfront - graves + erosion = bad!)

I want to be (yes, it's illegal) spread on open water... have ever since I heard the lyrics "Bury me at sea/Where no murd'red ghost can haunt me/If I rock upon the waves/No corpse can lay upon me" she suggests having me pressed into a cubic zirconia will be the only way she'll get jewelry out of me.

ah the Pogues!! Great song...great album for that matter. Strangely I was listening to it this morning driving into work.
Yeah, the diamond thing is officially freaky. But I'm not sure if the spreading of ashes at sea is illegal though. I know when I was on the sub we did about 5 or so burials at sea for Vets that had died and had requested it. I don't think we were in international waters either. Maybe the Navy doesn't care if it's illegal cause they sink anyone who was there to bitch about it!

Scattering Ones Ashes at Sea

If there's a buck to be made, it can be done! In a memorable, sensitive and caring manner mind you.
