Hi all!
This is my first post. I am seriously thinking of buying M3's along with the matching CC for my front room system.
I am downsizing my current tower speakers to gain more room in my new house. Can someone enlighten me on these speakers....
I already have a sub that I very happy with for to use with this system.

I thought it would be nice if I jumped in here and welcomed you, I noticed lots of people read your post but didn't reply. Personally, I don't own any of the bookshelf designs from Axioms, but others on hear have given the m2's, m3's, and m22's great feedback. All of them have received great reviews as well from many AV magazines and online websites. I'm sure someone will jump in here very soon.

How big is your room and how do you plan to use them, music or movies? Depending on where you live, you might check the Audition Thread in the Hearing Things forum to see if you can get an audition.

You may not be satisfied "downsizing." I would give some serious thought to that.

Don, another welcome. Your question might be easier to handle if you gave a little more detail about how you were going to place them(i.e. how important is really small size), how big the room is, are you going to be using a sub, etc. Anything from M2s up might be suitable, but in general I'd suggest that you consider the M22s, which are superbly flat and revealing speakers.

IF your room is not too large(my old room was 13X28 and the M3s worked great)then the M3s are an excellent choice!

I also used another M3 as center channel, as dispersion wasen't a concern, and scans and pans were flawless!

In my current system in a larger room I'm still using the M3s, but now as rear surrounds where they work very well indeed in this capacity.

......I'm still using an M3 as center, but have added the M3s bigger brother: The M50s; for mains.

Were I still in the smaller room, ALL of my speakers would have been M3s!!

I started with M3's and they sound awesome. Sometimes you're better off not knowing everything though - I bought one of those A/V tuneup/calibration DVD's and discovered a 'bass hole' between the low-end of my M3's and the upper-end of my sub on a response sweep. Can't have that! So I moved the M3's to the back as surrounds 6 and 7 and bought a pair of M60's. Ahhh, great sound and no hole!

So I'd echo the 'you might not be happy downsizing' sentiment...

My front room in my new house is an odd one. It's shaped like a big "L". From the wall to the back of my couch is like 12', but with another 20'of kitchen space. The width of my room is roughly 17' wide with one wall on the right side. The left side of the front room connects to the formal dinning room. This system will be used mainly for home theater with some music from time to time. My current towers will be used in another room dedicated to two channel listening. I hope this helps! Welcome. Since I just dealt with an Axiom customer yesterday on this subject, here are a few thoughts on your situation. I do think the general dimensions of the room suggest our larger bookshelf models, the M22s. They will have greater dynamic capabilities with your subwoofer in the larger space.

Note also there is a slight but quite audible tonal difference in the M3s and the M2 or M22s. The M3s are a few dB down in the midrange, so they have a slightly recessed or "laid-back" midrange compared to the M22s or M2s, which have a bit more detail and clarity through the mids. Lots of customers like the slightly softer mids of the M3s, but many prefer the detail and transparency of the M22s. Tonally the latter are very close in the midrange and highs to the floorstanding M60s and M80s when the M22s have subwoofer support.

Thank you so much. The only issue I may have with the taller bookshelf models is that I have a cat and a puppy that may tend to knock over the taller "top heavy" speakers.
