Hi All,

I'm close to pulling the trigger on purchasing surrounds and a centre channel. I currently have M60's with a HSU STF-3 sub with a Sony AVR. I have no surrounds and a crappy little Sony centre. My room size is 19x11x8, but in reality I'm set up in about a 12x11x8 part of the room. I'm looking at maxing out at about $1K CND. I have been looking at M3's on stands for the surround and a VP100 for the centre. This is about $975 total.

My question is will the M3's be a good fit or should I look at QS4's with stands ( a bit out of the budget) Wall mounting is out of the question so I do need the stands.

Any comments would be appreciated

You could go with the QS4-on-tin-cans route until you can afford stands, or you can make your own. I actually have made wooden brackets that the QS4's are mounted on to go into my dorm room. You may be able to make a nice looking wood or metal stand with holes for the brakets, then "wall mount" the QS4's on them.

I know my solution is a bit...crude, but hey it's a dorm room. And it's the same idea. You could stain a wooden 2x4 and sand down a peice of plywood and stain that as well, and a wooden stand wouldn't look half bad.
