Seems it is only available from Velodyne at the present with a price of $ 799. My b-day is next month, so if anyone is having a problem deciding on a present for me.
Since it is only available directly from Velodyne I'm guessing that once it is released to dealers the price will be less. If not and it stays that expensive, I'm thinking us SMS-1 owners should think about having a commun unit, would not cost that much for shipping when it was needed for a set up.
My cats don't even pay that much attention to the stereo, other than flipping the ears back when I listen to stuff at what you might consider low volumes...
The Bengals have always seemd to like the system, when the M80s were in the house and if I had the grills off, they would lay in front of the baffles, the MDF smell attracted them. They also will sit on the middle of the floor and follow the sound, the surrounds really get thier atention. lol No they don't seem to be going deaf yet.
It doesn't substitute for the sub crawl -- that's helpful no matter what other equipment you've got -- but it will definitely help you get a smoother bass response regardless of sub location.
Actually with the SMS-1 you still place the sub(s) as you would for the sub crawl, then just place the mic around the room till you find the best location. The five mic add on would be interesting to try, but not at $800.
Dennis, you have a cat in every one of your equipment shots. Do you have that many cats or just one that thinks it's "All that and a bag of catnip", pushing its way into every shot?
