I know its not advised to do so but I would like to know teh best way to put the QS8's in columns. Is there any preferred method to column design or the way its built so the QS8 could be hidden and not lose any or much sound quality due to its firing from the top and bottom? Have any of you had any luck in this area?

Thank you...Robert
I don't know what you mean by columns, but you could order them in the color that most resembles the color of the surface you plan on mounting them on and you won't even notice they're there. That's what I did. Axiom has every color under the rainbow, so matching a color shouldn't be a problem.
I thought about the color approach but I am building a fully dedicated theater in my basement and wanted teh speakers to be hidden. By columns I mean fake ceiling supports that are placed along the side and rear walls. I was hoping that if I made the columns totally open (only a frame covered with GOM from top to bottom) that it wouldnt greatly affect the sound since they fire on top and bottom.
That sounds right. I wouldn't build QSes into a "real" column but if you just have a half-column shaped frame with acoustically transparent cloth over it that should be OK.

You could probably get away with a few feet of "real" column and a few feet of "fake" with the QS in it, but (a) you probably want to angle out the top of the lower part of the column, and (b) the split construction probably wouldn't work as well as an all-frame approach.

Personally I would just leave 'em hanging on the wall but pick a colour which makes them disappear against the wall.

This is the exact situation I am dealing with. Acoustically transparent cloth is what I am going to do...
ZX if your dealing with it now then you will probably learn if it will work before me as I am probably 6 months or so form dealing with this issue. If thats the route you take please be sure to post the end result so those of us in similar situations will know how it turned out and how it sounds.

Thanks
Robert
I would suggest that you get a very study cardboard column, seal one end, place foam about 6" deep in the column, then place one QS8 on the foam. Cover that with another 6" of foam then place the other QS8 in the column.

Once again add another 6" of foam, seal the column and then mail the contents to someone who can hang them the way they were designed to be hung.

Well I would suggest that, but I'm not sure if everyone has my sense of humour .
Here are some examples of columns I have seen.

I think that's the first good laugh all week, but it made up for a few dry days.
