I've been using a vp100 center for almost 2 years now and am very happy but for curiosities sake I just bought a vp150 off ebay. I am going to experiment a little and was wondering how I can run them in parallel one on top of the tv and one below, how would I wire these? Thanks.

JR, then that VP100 wasn't getting "too quiet" again, as we discussed last year. What you propose may be feasible. First, as to impedance when the VP100 and VP150 would be run in parallel: the reciprocal of the total net impedance when speakers are run in parallel is equal to the sum of the reciprocals of the separate impedances. Here (1/8)+ (1/6)= 1/T; 7/24=1/T; T=3.4ohms. This low impedance doesn't necessarily mean that the receiver will shut down; low impedance problems are often exaggerated. Also note that the speakers operating in parallel would create an increase in sound level of 3dB, or for the same total level would need only half the power, which would also reduce the current required, making a problem less likely.

As to the wiring, there're two ways: conceptually the simplest is to connect separate speaker cables to the receiver's center output terminals(trimming the ends if necessary to make both fit the terminal)and then connecting to the two speakers as usual; the second way is to connect one wire to the receiver and run it to one center speaker, then run a second wire from that speaker's terminals to the second center, connecting the positive terminal to the positive terminal and negative to negative.

JR we run a VP100 and a VP150 wired in parallel placed above and below our TV being driven by an H/K 635 receiver with no problems regarding the impedance load on the receiver ... as for the wiring I connected the 100 to the 150 by connecting a pair of 'jumper' wires from the positive side of the 150 to the positive side of 100 and did the same from the negative binding post of each speaker, just as JohnK describes.

Compared to your monster bass traps Randy these are half pints, but I'm really diggin' them and the wife says they "really add to the overall look of the room" ... after 25 years (this October) of marriage to this wonderful lady I am reminded daily why I have been digging her for such a long time.

That is great Rick, wow 25yrs, this last August was 14 for us, and I'm still trying to figure out how I got so lucky.

Just to let you know, I now have 3 first reflection panels on the walls, and 3 on the ceiling. I'll try to get some pics up asap, and maybe another graph. I have enough of the owens corning 703 left for some more ceiling/wall corner bass traps, or I can use it for rear wall corners, haven't decided yet. I can't believe how much better the music sounds, so much more clarity.

Nice setup BrotherBob, I see you are using an OmniMount, I just have a 32" CRT right now but am getting t a 50" DLP soon so I think the OmniMount will come in handy. These centers are matched with a pair of m22's, qs8's and HSU STF-2 sub with a Yamaha RX750 receiver. BrothrBob, is there a huge difference in sound running both centers?

JR actually the most relevant difference to me was not running the centers together but the difference between the 150 and the 100. Our system was in a smaller room and the 100 did just fine, whenever we moved it to this new room it was a little weak and was replaced (added actually) by the 150 ... which made a huge difference.

Some have told me that by running a pair of centers in this manner while playing the same frequencies *can* actually cancel each other out for loss of sound quality but I haven't noticed this occurrence with the setup.

Our room is only 15'x15' and the vp100 really was fine but I have always had a big case of the 'what ifs.....' and I got a good deal on the 150. I think I'll just try it out both ways and see what happens, I can always sell the 100. Thanks for all your help!
