Can
this be legit? If so, it's really great news! Cheers.
DS.
Alan has let it slip out already on another thread. Axiom is indeed looking at it
Sorry to be reporting old news, in that case, Jake. Guess I haven't been paying enough attention. I hope this turns out to be so. Cheers.
DS.
Never be sorry, others may have missed that thread as well.
No worries. I for one am anxiously waiting to see which ones the sell.

It has already turned out to be so. Chip, a member on this board, has already ordered the 771 through Axiom Audio through the Telephone.
Clicked on the link and I geuss I didnt make the cut...
"Why did we ban your IP?
The reason we have banned so many IP addresses is due to the large number of spammers we get from outside of North America. In our research, we found that close to 95% of posts made by members outside of North America was simply spam so we were forced to take these measures.
Since our site is primarily aimed at North Americans we felt this was the best way to protect our members.
Thanks for your understanding."
Who said i was "understanding", didnt want to to read their crappy article anyway.

Yes. It is legit. We will be putting up some pages to order Sherwood from our site next week. Great to see all the interest on the boards already!
Can you give us a sneak preview of which model(s) will be available, Andrea? Cheers.
DS.
Yeah, I missed the hints that Alan dropped too. Great news, I didn't even know about the Sherwood brand. Seems like a nice product.
671 and 771 for sure, probably more. The Axiom folks steered Mark (chips) to the 671 -- I suggested he go with the 771 because it looked to have a more upgradeable DSP for the future.
I haven't been on the board much for the last 6-7 months, but there were plenty of rumors late last Spring about Axiom coming out with some electronics.
Nice to see that it is actually going to happen!!
Hey the Rat is back
welcome back Bernard.

Definitely a nice product. One of our local audio shops carries the line and was one of my options to Marantz, Outlaw, Onkyo, HK, etc.
buying the Sherwood 771 was as easy as pie, just let Axiom know what you want, pay them and they magically arrive on your doorstep. Look at the
Sherwood web page first to see what you want (until Axiom has that availability on their website).
Only about 3 weeks to go before I can use it though (basement is to be finished about then)
Sherwood Newcastle went live on the Axiom site last night. The models distributed are listed with all the specs and any purchases can now be done online.
I was just noticing that, thanks Andrea.
I do like the way you all incorporated the information bar whenever the mouse arrow is scrolled over the product on the page that shows all of the Sherwood Newcastle products.
Would it be possible to include a LARGE image of the back of each unit?

That's a good idea. I really like the looks of the units and the price is better than I had expected.
Something like this maybe ...

I too was pleasantly surprised with the cost, 15 hundred for a 160 watt 7 ch amp ain't bad and compared to most other processors the P-965 is a steal!
I've seen the blowups on Sherwood's US site and I'm hoping Axiom can do better, both in terms of size and a much higher resolution, my eyes aren't what they used to be
I'll agree the prices seem very good.
OK, someone's got to come out with it... what's the relation between Sherwood Newcastle and Sherwood-who-makes-absolute-crap-that-gets-sold-on-Amazon?
If you go to the
Sherwood site they show the regular Sherwood products also. I think the Newcastle stuff is their higher end product.

Ken, that was a little vague. What are you REALLY asking?
That would have been far too easy.
A quick call to Sherwood confirmed they are in fact the same company. The Newcastle line is their higher end line.
Judging from general impressions and reviews, it's significantly higher end...
By the way, you're making me feel really lazy.
You asked
. My son had a Sherwood reciever I bought him a few years ago. He beat the crapp out of it and had two sets of speakers running through the ab outputs. So it looks like the lower end stuff might do ok with 4 ohm speakers. I have it hooked up to the computer now, it has never skipped a beat.
I shall have to pay less attention to Amazon user reviews.
Alot of those reviews are done by kids so take them with the proverbial grain of salt, OK a dump truck full of salt, especially the ones saying the product is not as good as... instead of just listing the shortfalls, differences and such, much like the many great reviews we see here.
I have to admit that the Pre-Pro and Amp looks like a sweet combination!
I'd photograph them for free just to try them for a week!
I'm glad to finally see the Sherwood stuff on the website. Now just as soon as Axiom gets the R-972 HDMI 1.3 receiver up on the site for pre-order, I'll order one and 2 more QS8's. Hopefully Sherwood will be good to their word and get the thing out this fall.
My Epic 60/500 speakers are on the Purolator truck in Calgary now! Only a few more hours!!!!
Congratulations! Hope all of them arrived safely and you can order one of those HDMI 1.3 receivers for me as well, throw in a couple of interconnects and you could then qualify for for the 5% discount.
The Sherwood site is a little short on info;
here's a bit more.
Interesting read John, thanks for sharing it.
The fact that Axiom has taken on the Sherwood Newcastle line makes me have to think a little more about Outlaw's
990!
What does this mean about the Axiom line of amplifiers that they were working on? Kaput?

Craig, here is that Audioholics article about the Axiom amp. It's in a completely different league and price point than the Sherwood. They were far enough along in the development that I doubt they would abandon it. But then again, I could be speaking out of my @ss.

Hi
That's my site and I'm just came by to see where all these visits were coming from.
I'm very happy with my Sherwood P-965. I'm using it with a Nakamichi PA-1 amp: http://picasaweb.google.com/jadeonly/BasementContruction/photo#4944317938330501138
NHT Speakers & screen: http://picasaweb.google.com/jadeonly/BasementContruction/photo#4951279227940962322
Those are older photos. I'll be posting some updated ones with all the equipment (and window treatments, vital for projectors) this week.
If anyone would like to know more about my P-965 experience, I would be happy to share. I use it almost exclusively for home theater
Welcome Jade. Thanks for popping in and offering your help.
I don't know if anyone will take you up on your offer but, whether they do or not, it was kind of you to make it.

Yah I doubt members on the Axiom forum want the opinion of an NHT fanboy
Seriously though, it's interesting to see some Sherwood fans from Calgary on here. Sounds like they might be of a similar mindset - go down to 8th street and listen to a demo at General Audio then buy it on the Internet.
