I've got 7.0 of my 7.1 system working nicely, but the sub just won't put out. I've got one of Axioms balanced XLR cables, the trigger line works (red light turns to green), but no LFE. I switched to an RCA for an input and still no output. I tried every setting and position on every knob or switch, and still nothing. I checked settings on my Emo, everything seemd to be set correctly.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks,

Scott

Unplug your prepro for 30 minutes or so. I haven't seen this issue with Emotivas, but I have with another high end brand--some channels just, well, disappear...

are there test tones you can send out from your emotiva? maybe that might work. Otherwise, maybe the fuse is dead in the amp?

You can always call Axiom. Their customer support is excellent.

Not to really hijack the thread, but leaving the EP500 on when not in use is the norm right? YOu're not supposed to turn it off every time you're done using it are you? (not "you", third person )

I leave my 600 powered on all the time.

Do you have another sub to try on the Emo's sub out?

Something to else to try: Turn off the sub. Plug one of the outputs directly from your DVD player into the sub. Turn the volume ALL the way down. Turn sub & DVD player back on. Start disc and slowly bring the volume up on the sub. Anything???

I tried all the unplug-plug, reset, reconfigure - still nothing. So I fed it a speaker level input with no luck either. JC at Axiom wants me to pull the driver and check to see if a wire dropped off - the box was pretty well banged up so it wouldn't be a surprise. I'm in CA for the next couple of days so this will have to wait. Thanks to all for the suggestions.

careful when you remove the driver, it is very heavy.

IT'S ALIVE !!!! It must have been a loose wire, though I didn't find any that were off their posts. Driver not nearly as heavy as I expected, but apparently effective. Once I checked all the connections and fuses (with a test meter) and got it put back together, I ran thru Emo's setup tones and the first time it hit the sub I thought we ere having an earth quake, seriously. After living in So Cal for 35 years, it was a familiar feeling. I just hope they used screws instead of nails on the drywall when the room was built. I discovered that I have to open a closet door because the door rattles in the frame. Other than that, the room seems to be quite neutral - with the obvious exception of the corners of the room. X-over set at 80Hz w/ M80's set to large seems to work well for the room - seamless transition. What a great system Axiom puts together.
Thanks to all for the help.

BRAVO! With all the variables that could have been causing the problem, you did a really good job of solving it.

I would try setting your 80's to small, works much better for my 80's and 600 combination. Your 500 will do a much better job in the below 80hz categories than your 80's woofers.

Scott, maybe the reason that there seemed to be a "seamless transition" is that there isn't any transition with the M80s set "large"; they run full-range and aren't relieved of the lowest bass burden. As Randy suggested, bass management calls for setting even speakers like the M80s "small", since even with their good bass, a great sub like the EP500 does even better. There shouldn't be any transition problem, since the receiver or pre-pro handles it automatically and precisely.
