hi,

i was just wondering what is the recommended gauge for a speaker wire to connect with any of the epic series (ex. epic 80). I have bought 12 AWG speaker wire from monoprice. At that kind of gauge would the wire be too thick to connect to the speakers?

Thanks.

12 gauge will be just fine.
Enjoy.

I'm using the Axiom bulk 12ga and I love it, its very flexible as well. 12ga is more than plenty and I have 40 feet runs to my rears.

How long are your wire runs? Rumour has it that homes in Cowtown can get quite huge with home theatres approaching 50,000 cubic feet in size .

Paul, other than 12ga being thicker and harder to handle than necessary for most setups, it's always suitable. If you haven't previously seen it here's an excellent explanation of speaker wire in general, with a table of suggested gauges, written by a veteran audio professional.

I've always used 12AWG

Paul,

If you are wiring in the wall, make sure that the cable is CSA-approved. Otherwise the inspector will not pass your reno.

I've seen speaker cable gauge down to 5.5! As long as it is terminated properly it can connect to any speaker.
