Any thoughts, input or real examples about the differences, positives or negatives to purchasing the DMR-1 receiver vs. the LMC-1 and LPA-1 separates?? The separates are $400 less and both have 125 wpc. I'm thinking that the big difference is in the processing and I would think that is quite important. I've been reading different articles about where the money should be spent-processing or amplification and most side with processing.

I'm ready to pull the trigger but not sure which trigger to pull.

Charles, there're at least three members who use Emotiva equipment and might have some views, although none have the new DMR-1. You're correct about the significance of processing vs basic amplification: one of the great things about the current audio scene is the quality and quantity of power available to us at modest cost. Basic amplification should in most cases be a non-issue. There're claims about the processing of the DMC-1(said to be the same as that contained in the DMR-1), but it's unclear how much difference this would make in real-world home use. The difference in the units you compare appears to be about $300 at the introductory price.

As to processing, my thoughts are that new units such as the Onkyo 875 or Denon 3808 have much to offer, such as Audyssey MultEQ setup and equalization and the Reon video processor(on the 875)which aren't present on the Emotiva and which you might also consider.

Here's a thought for you. You could go downtown and pick up a pretty nice AV receiver for $1300. At least you would know what your getting. I don't know too many people who have heard an Emotiva receiver. There's at least one individual here who isn't enamored with their products.

These days, for $1300 you can get a nice Denon/Onkyo/Yammi AVR that has similar features and power and multiple HDMI connections built in, v1.3 even. I've got the Emo separates and am very pleased with SQ and features, save HDMI connections, But I don't need any more right now, so no problems. At 200+WPC I've got all I need, but then my room is 1/3 the volume of 's room.
EMO and others have 30 day return policies - if you don't like it, send it back. I think Axiom extends their 30 day policy to the Sherwood line and the R-871 is similar to the Emo you're looking at.

Well, I talked at length today with Lonnie at Emotiva. He answered all my questions and helped me make my decision. I ordered the LPA / LMC combo. With a 30 day trial and a 40% discount on new updates, how can you go wrong? I don't think the amp will be an issue. If the processer is an issue, I'll send it back and keep the amp.
