I recently bought an OPPO 970 for my 2 channel garage setup. However I want to try it out in the house with my Emotiva LMC-1 / LPA-1 setup using some hybrid SACDs. I'm going to hook it up using the 5 channel outputs on the OPPO and inputs on the LMC. So my question is--what do I set the LMC on-PLII, Dolby or 2 channel? And what is the difference in this setup and just playing it through a PLII mode using an HDMI or coaxial line?? Will this give me true 5 channel separation?

If you want true hi rez audio with your lmc-1, select the 8 channel input button with your remote.

Also, you probably need to go into the oppo menu and set up the speakers for large/small, crossover, distance and levels.

OK, right, there is a 7 channel button on the remote. Even with all of those settings arlready locked with the LMC, I still need to do that in the OPPO??

Yes. Since you are using the analog inputs on the lmc-1, the bass management functions won't work. The Oppo must be setup to perform those functions. My HK receiver along with my Pioneer 588a work in a similar fashion.
