There seems to be an ever-growing legion of happy 3808 owners in the forum (I will also be one very soon!!! ). When I ran across something this weekend which is pretty neat, I thought I would make a separate thread so it doesn't get lost.

A gentleman on AVS has written a piece of software he is calling Command3808 that can be downloaded and opened on a PC. It is a multi-tab executable that allows you to do all of the 3808 settings via your PC AND SAVE DIFFERENT CONFIGURATIONS! I pulled it down and looked at - pretty neat. It apparently works with the 4308 as well.

He is working pretty hard to take input, fix bugs and add features. I suspect that he has an intention to sell the thing at some point, but it is getting some nice comments.

The software is in the first post and can be downloaded, but you will want to read the entire thread (not real long yet).

Command3808

You had a typo.

Thanks for the link! I guess I need to frequent AVS a little more often.

Thanks Jason - I fixed it.

If you pull it down and take a look at it, please post your observations.

I just downloaded it after reading all the comments, sounds like it will be fun and frustrating at the same time\:D

Hey, that should make the money easier to part with!

Is that damned Ray spending other peoples money again? \:o I'm certainly glad that I never do that.

OK, somebody please explain to this computer tech challenged senior citizen just exactly what a "multi-tab executable," is, and what it does to/for a 3808??????
It's just a program with multiple tabs (probably a different utility on each tab).

Excellent summary. An executable opens when you click it as opposed to installing the whole thing and having an icon on your desktop.

The tabs are simply additional pages in the program when it opens. I really like the fact that you can save different configurations on your PC. Would come in real handy when you need to reset the receiver.

This is similar in nature the the MX-700 and MX-850 remotes that Jack and I talk about from time to time in that all of the programming can be done on the PC and downloaded to the unit.

Tom - I only brought all of this up because of the depth of your cash holdings and the fact that you NEED a new Denon 3808! ;\)
I need one too

I think everyone needs a 3808. It has been put together very well in all facets.
