Wow, accidentally uncalibrated Audessy sucks! - 01/03/08 05:22 PM
Not sure how or when I did it over the holidays but I accidentally set the Audessy feature on my Denon to [Flat] instead of [Off]. I think it explains a couple of movies that I was less than impressed with the soundtrack on but I knew something was wrong when I could barely hear the vocals in a couple of concert DVDs I tried.
I'm not going to delv into trying to figure out what proper terms apply because the best way to sum it up was Blah! & Boring! The most obvious problem was that you had to concentrate to figure out what the singers were saying. I bought new speakers to get away from that problem...
Took me a while to find out what was wrong. After much menu frustration, I found it thanks to the Denon's Display button where it summarizes all the current input and outputs on your TV screen. Lesson learned: Go there first!
Just thought I'd share for anyone else who has egg nog induced audio problems.
