on switching out my M22's for HG Cherry M80's. But will my H/K AVR635 drive the M80? Or am I looking at a receiver purchase as well?
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/18/08 02:27 AM
Hey Josh,

Your HK will rock those 80's, no problem at all. \:\) Good to see you again...
Posted By: Wid Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/18/08 02:29 AM

That's a fact.
Posted By: RickF Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/18/08 02:30 AM
The 635 will drive 'em just fine. Although I'm using a Rotel amp to drive our 80s I've had the 635 drive 'em pretty hard at times, also the 635 is driving our VP100 and 150 in parallel for a load of 3.43 ohms without a problem.

Oh yea ... congrats on the new digs, I bet they are going to look awesome!

pull pull pull... so you can post glossy pics of course \:\)
Posted By: jbsengineer Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/18/08 02:18 PM
Great! Thanks for the input.

Well I've priced this out...Using the free HG Cherry upgrade and the tradup program. I could trade in my Bosten Cherry M22's, VP150, QS8's, and EP500 for HG Cherrry M80's, VP150, QS8's, and TWO EP500's for $2296. Wow that is TEMPTING!

It is tax return time right?

I think my wife might hurt me....

I've done some searches for the pictures of HG Cherry setups but I'm striking out. I know I've seen plenty. Anyone have a link?

I DID IT!!

Oh the guilt... Now the waiting....

My new setup (wow!!)

TWO EP500's, Pair M80's, Pair QS8's, and a VP150. All in High Gloss Cherry.

All smiles, :).

I'm soooo jealous, that's exactly what I want.

I, too, am extremely envious of you speakers-to-be. The more I see the HG Cherry the more it turns into a love/hate relationship. I love the look but hate that the free upgrade will be done by the time I can afford it. Unless....

I missed the free upgrade last time around... So I've been waiting out the purchase since they brought back the deal and I just couldn't resist anymore. I never really liked the Boston Cherry to be honest.

. . . unless the birthday fairy sees this post!

If by "birthday fairy" you mean Axiom offering a special for us birthday boys and girls, then yes, that's exactly what I was thinking ;\)

{giggles} That may spawn an awful lot of January birthdays cropping up all of a sudden!

I really hope you live in a detached living space...or your neighbors might not be as happy about your new purchase as you are!!

darn, I guess you're right. Here's keeping my fingers crossed for that birthday fairy. Boy I hope she/he doesn't try to leave them under my pillow.

Josh, I'm happy for you. I know I had a lot to do to get you to purchase Axiom speakers back in the day.. Glad your still enjoying them. \:\)

There isn't anyone around.... I have a couple acres to rumble, :)!!!!

I think you had everything to do with! I'm still loving them. I get a huge thrill by showing them off. The last quote from a friend was "wow, I thought I had a home theater." Now I'll have to invite him back over for the real show, ;)!

Posted By: SirQuack Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 01:26 AM
Josh, you just wait until you hear the 80's. \:\) I just purchased two of the new 350v3's to go with my 600. \:\)
Posted By: RickF Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 01:29 AM
That's too much Randy, you need to keep the 2 350v3's and send me the 600 ... I'll somehow struggle and make it fit into the decor, someway or another.

I can't wait to hear them!! I'm eagerly waiting to feel the power of two EP500's as well. Since I'm a closet bass freak, .

I do have to thank Axiom for the brilliant Trade Up program. Upgraditus hit me hard. I hope the program is working as well for them as it is for us customers, \:\) .
Posted By: SirQuack Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 02:19 AM
I can't remember Josh, what are you driving the system with?
Posted By: jbsengineer Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 02:20 AM
H/K AVR635... I had a seperate thread yesterday making sure it would drive the 80's

Edit: Actually this is the thread,

I actually demoed a Onkyo SR-805 late last year in house. But I preferred keeping my H/K.
Posted By: ptRyno Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 02:34 AM
Again, congratulations, that is going to be one crazy awesome home theater. What are you using for the video side of things?

And congrats to you sirquack for the new purchases. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the improvements in bass that come with extra subs. Did you get them in the Ebony finish?
Posted By: jbsengineer Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 02:43 AM
Right now I have a Samsung 42" Plasma which I love. I'm playing video via a Xbox 360 with HD-DVD player and a HD cable box DVR.
Posted By: jbsengineer Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 02:49 AM
BTW, lately I've been ripping my DVD collection to MP4 files onto my Apple Powermac G5 then streaming them out to my Xbox 360. Unfortunately I lose Dolby Digital 5.1. but the video looks great!
Posted By: ptRyno Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 02:54 AM
Nice! I take it you're running Parallels or something similar on your Mac? I've considered trying the same but just haven't gotten around to it yet.
Posted By: jbsengineer Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 02:55 AM
Nope. Found this nifty program:

Oh wow, thats awesome, now I too can stream all my crap to my 360. Thanks alot for the link. I'll definitely be giving this a go.
Posted By: jbsengineer Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 03:14 AM
Works very well. I just started using it a few weeks ago. It does support AVI's with a AC3 pass through but it does not stream them very well. Maybe the next Xbox update will fix this.

get an apple tv, the v2 should really do the trick now....especially with iTunes rentals
Posted By: jbsengineer Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 03:51 AM
Definitely looking at the Apple TV update. It's going to support an AC3 pass through as well. In what formats though is the key. Only time will tell, ;\)
Posted By: ptRyno Re: Ready to pull the trigger.... - 01/19/08 05:54 AM
I, too, am looking at the new Apple TV, started a thread about it, and am very interesting to see how the video rental feature plays out, especially since it'll offer HD. So Josh, once you buy it, be sure to give me a detailed breakdown of it explaining why I need it over the nullriver program. ;\)

Wow. Those are stunning! Now I'm even more impatient.

::To the speaker gods::
Please let my speakers arrive EXTREMELY quickly and in one piece. That's all I wish for in my time of need! Pleeeeeaaaaasssse.
