I am in the process of upgrading my receiver and will be going from 5.1 to 7.1. I currently own a pair of QS4's and was wondering if I should add another pair of the same or would it work if I added QS8's for the year and left the QS4's for sides? How would the surrounds mix?

Would appreciate some opinions.

Thanks

Greg

I think they would work fine, but I would put the Qs8's on the side and move your Qs4's to the rear. Or, just get another set of Qs4's. They should both have the same tonal properties.

Greg, should I bring the QS8s over sometime?

Jason,

Would love to hear the 8's and would also like to hear them with the 4's in a 7.1 setup. Whats your week like? I am available almost anytime.

Its also time to test the old 350 and the new 350 and provide a review for everyone.

Let me know what works.

Hi framer2180,

The tonal matching of the QS4s and QS8s is extremely close. The '8s have larger woofers for greater power handling in bigger rooms, so consider how large your new room will be if you are planning on adding a second pair of the QS series. Definitely use the QS8s at the sides as your "main" surrounds and move the QS4s to the rear for 7.1.

Regards,

I'm using the QS8's as sides and the QS4's as rears and am very happy with the arrangement.
