Can anyone suggest a good, not too expensive ups. I have one that I bought at cotsco for $89. The power at my house is as bad as you can get and still have power. I am not kidding.

One time the light went on and off more than 20 times in less than 20 seconds and then all the light in the house stayed barely on for hours. The voltage at that time had to be as low as you can get with out a black out.

Also axiom recommends not turning off the sub woofer, but in my case I turn it off and then disconnect it. Axiom recommends not using a power filter on the subwoofer, but I cant imagine not using one.

Will I really damage the sub if I use a surge protector?

One EXTREMELY IMPORTANT feature is the it should have no alarms. All the computer ups have an alarm with a push button that is suppose to turn off the alarm. the problem is that after a couple of minutes the alarm will sound again. You can imagine the mess every time the voltage goes down. The first thing I do when I buy a UPS is open it and destroy the speaker.

With UPSes, you get what you pay for. Tripp-Lite and APC are good places to start looking.

I agree with Peter, Tripp-Lite and APC make some of the best out there.
