I am just wondering if many of you are listening to DVD-Audio, without proper bass management using your Axiom Speakers. I currently use M22's for fronts, VP150 for center, and some old surrounds (soon to be QS4's or QS8's). I have a H/K 520 receiver and use a Panny DVDCP72 for DVD-Audio. Obviously, neither the DVD player nor the 520 have proper bass management for DVD-Audio. However, I recently bought some DVD-Audio discs such as Fleetwood Mac Rumours, and it does sound quite good despite the lack of bass management. I'm wondering two things: (i) Do you think I am risking damaging my Axioms because the low frequencies are not being redirected to my sub, and (ii) Do you think I am really missing out by not having the bass management? Thanks in advance.

We have M60s, VP150, and QS8s that we use with DVD-Audio and think it sounds great. We recently got a set of 5 M22s to use for DVD-Audio since you are supposed to use a matched set of speakers. We haven't got them hooked up yet, as we still need to get stands.

To answer your questions:

1) No you shoulnd't be damaging your speakers, they just won't reproduce the low bass.

2) With our current setup we don't feel like we are missing anything, but we could be. We are planning on getting a new receiver that has DVD-A bass management or getting an Outlaw ICBM to handle it.

DVD-Audio on Axiom speakers sure does sound great though!

Depends on what you mean by missing out. We are talking about Fleetwood Mac here...
